What happen if you don’t put the ground going to the fuel pump to the battery or chasis will still works ?

I have a fuel gauge of 0-190 ohm rating and a sender unit of 10-180ohm rating.Can these work perfectly together?

Do you have to run the signal circuit from the sending unit, or could you run it from the signal circuit at the instrument cluster?

I see that you need to ground 2 wires the one from the gauge and the one that is going to the fuel pump
