I think you're over estimating the importance of Katarina's ult. It's probably the weakest part of her kit. She never was an e-r champion to begin with. Her daggers and e always provided more damage than the ult.

I love Katarina, but honestly, a very "hard skill" play is actually that when you kill somebody you still have E up. What I mean is, when you score a kill most of the times me but i see almost everyone, you end up pressing E that fast that causes you to end up not having E up after the reset, i see sometimes even Nyro doing so, KatEvolved not all the times he's very good but sometimes happend. I dont saw him doing so, he's very good.

As a katarina enjoyer, besides knowing how to engage/disengage, squeezing autos between your skills in early game is what will make you win fights. Learn to play with your auto resets. Most katarinas struggle with early game but as we all know, practice will make that better :)

It's actually possible to do so. If you walk on a dagger that's already on the ground at the same time as a dagger drops on top of you and blink at the same time, it will carry one dagger with you. It's very hard to do in game though. It is a lot easier to do if you use flash to get on top of the dagger already on the ground though

You basically have to be much better than the enemy midlander to survive Laning. From what I've seen, she only gets to scale if she gets lucky with ganks or if I roamed too much and let her farm.

@@azelynhirano It's honestly not hard at all to survive since she has a million blinks. Just play back and don't be afraid to sac a bit of hp to get your important farm. Just wait for your opportunity to either roam or clean up a skirmish and you should be fine. Once you get sheen and a bit of ap you can start looking to kill your laning opponent.

I think that the main reason the katarina mains are building lich bane it's not even because the item now is extremely busted (you can get much more ap now, so the passive hits like a truck) but the fact that it provides 8% movespeed, combine this with the fact that now lanes are much bigger (top lane, for example) and the rune relentless hunter, you can win games even in bad matchups just by roaming

Its because the damage is comparable to nashors but the upfront burst is prefered considering how much burst the other items also give you. Plus the components are MUCH better than nashors, you dont waste 600 gold buying two daggers that give you nothing so it's very nice to build into first.

well it used to be stormsurge rush on previous patch but after the nerfs it only gives 90AP, compared to 100AP from lich bane which also has better components and better upfront burst compared to nashors for example. also nashors ap ratios got nerfed so it’s better as a mid game item rather than a rush

Katarina would only appear in the pro scene if she was extremely broken, she is basically a SoloQ champion, she doesn't win any lane (even with good matchups for kat in competitive they would just farm and out scale her), CC kills the champion, in a scenario coordinated with calls she would die the second she steps into the fight. Having said all this, I would also really like to see it on ProPLay.

Actually Katarina can counter Galio easily with an AD Conqueror build. Pantheon revolves around ganks and making sure you only engage if he uses abilities on the wave or if his stacks are low. Renekton has room for errors but if he plays perfectly, you have to just rely on mid to late game and focus on teamfights as you excell better on those.

Real counters: Pick a scale champ against Katarina mid and start freezing (also put a war d and ping all MIAs). Katarina isn't a champ who can farm easily, so when you are diamond 2 or below you see all the Katarinas shine. But then when it comes to the real game, when all 10 players on a lobby knows what game are playing, Katarina has nothing to do against no one. OTP champ for those who wants to play a setup-dependent champ and pray for the team playing almost exclusivly for you, otherwise you get ganked; miss you Shunpo and get dead at minute 3. Farm disadvantage, xp disadvantage, MENTAL disadvantage, and also 0 utility for you team. It's really coinflip and a Katarina player will not trust in his own hability, because you can be a GOD micro, but when you are facing a enemy lanner that wouldn't make mistakes of posicioning, you are pretty fucked. Even more, if you are facing a bad lanner but all other 4 enemies are good, you just give free gold of you killing streak (if you even know how to punish your enemy lanner).

All I get watching this is the realization Katarina is unfair and overpowered to play against. No matter where these skilled enemies stand or what they chose to do, the Kat has practically infinite abilities to do as she pleases, no cool downs or resources. If these skilled players can't deal with a peer Katarina what chance does a normal casual player have against this champion even in "Alright" hands? I've found the only way to deal with her is with permanent banning.

I sucked playing against Hwei. I spent ONE whole day (maybe 10 games) forcing myself to play him, while not an expert, I understand his style and cooldowns enough that I no longer die to STUPID shit like I use to when playing against them. Now it takes someone whos REALLY good at Hwei to punish me with him. I don't like that Katarinas passive gives all her basic abilities a refresh and that her E gets almost instant refresh (depending on level) when collecting a dagger. Just getting one kill snowballs this champion so hard in teamfights. The only counter is hard CC and not dying. And hitting hard CC on a Katarina that is teleporting all over the place is not easy.
