I am getting married this winter; I am 19 and he is 20. What's sad is that he is the most wonderful Christian man I have ever met, believes in the traditional gender roles and is determined, hardworking, and loving, but everyone keeps telling us that we are wasting our young years, and that me desiring to be a mother, wife, and nurturer is a bad thing. They make me feel stupid for wanting those things in life. My desire to embrace traditional and biblical femininity is teased and looked down upon: even by some people in the church! Your videos inspire me to continue to embrace biblical femininity with courage and to show it wherever I go! I have even been talking about your videos to my fiancee! But YES, I do feel that way! What ever happened to choice:( I adore having a man who loves that I embrace that femininity and strive for it and that he also embraces his masculine role as protector and leader. Your videos always encourage me. Keep making the, please! God bless

My husband and I got married 3 years ago when we were both 19 and we got/get a lot of the same thing. You're doing what is good in God's eyes and living based off of his design which is a beautiful thing. Now we have our own home and I stay at home with our 6 month old son. It took a lot of work and sacrifice but I am so grateful to be where we are! God certainly blessed us. I hope he blesses you two as well!

My mother was widowed when I was 2. I was the youngest of 4 children. My mother went back to school and received 2 degrees to change careers and support us. BUT she chose to be a teacher so she was home and off work when we were out of school. I became a lawyer. She told me that caring for your family is priority #1. I had my time running a law practice and taught law but when child number two came I chose to be a part time law professor. I am home before my children get home. I have days that I don’t work and I relish my role as a home keeper. My hardest job is running a home, caring for my children (one with autism) and building my marriage. I am a family law lawyer with a Masters degree. I know what destroys a marriage and family. My priorities are straight.

wow. the section about the overextension of activities for children made me sad. my mom went from a single, overworked mom to getting married and still having to work really hard (my dad lost his job during the 2008 recession) and my GOODNESS was i in every activity under the sun. i begged to quit something, my parents always complained about how busy they were and how ridiculous my schedule was, and told me to be grateful for all of the opportunities i had (which i was, but that did not negate the stress). i eventually began to resent my parents for pushing me towards external activities instead of just spending time with me. i developed extreme anxiety that i still have to work through. wives, this is so real. please stay home with your kids or at least make intentional time to spend with them. i promise, they will be better for it.

Im from the south and there’s an old saying we had when someone gave good advice, but their delivery came from a place of rudeness. “Chew on the meat and spit out the bones”. In this case the book holds golden nuggets, but we as readers have to consciously look over the insults. I can’t remember who told me this in life but they said “we miss out on valuable information because we don’t like the person who is delivering the message”. I’m glad you spoke on the subject. Be blessed❤️

I can’t agree more this is so true a lot of people disregard the whole lecture of profitable advice because of one small thing the person has done or said. It’s really immature and that’s why a lot of people are so confused why they are the way they are.. Because they didn’t take the great advice just because of a simple understatement , action or simply the character of the person delivering it.

You are so right, a man or woman must leave their mother and father and CLEAVE to their wife/husband. I had a time where I stayed home with my kids while my husband was the only breadwinner and someone called me lazy because I didn't want to go to work. At some point it was hard for me to find a babysitter so I just made the decision not to go back to work at that time. I'm sooo glad I did, because my kids told me that the other kids in the neighborhood said that they wanted a mom like theirs. Because I used to take my kids and the neighborhood kids to the library and museums in the area and made popcorn for them while they played with my kids on the porch. It was a good thing and I'm so glad that I did it. It made a difference in my kids lives and the neighborhood kids as well. Thank you for your channel. Keep up the good work. I was a Christian at the time too, a new one.

Hi Bindi, i had to stop your video half way just to share some of my thoughts...wow there's alot to unpack here for me. First of all I grew up with a single mother who had to work full time for our survival. I always looked at my mother and felt that her working to provide for us was noble and when i became eligible, I would work for my survival too. After completing college I went full time into the work force and was financially independent by age 25. I felt so proud of myself that I was out there in the world providing for myself while some of my friends were still living with their parents. Working became my identity, it became who I was. Then I got married and had a baby. 3 months after going back to work from maternity leave I was absolutely exhausted. I only had 2 hours to spend with my husband and daughter every night and it was heartbreaking. I quit my full time job and took a part time job to be able to spend more time with my daughter. I was suprised at how hard the move from full time work to part time work was for me. I struggled so much because working full time and being this independent self sufficient person was a source of pride that had became my identity. Slowly God has been changing my heart and my priorities. My identity no longer lies in what type of job i have or how many hours I work in a week. Praise God!

The same thing happened to my mother. She was an engineer with a great career, but when she became pregnant with her first child, she felt her true calling was to come home and be a full time housewife and homeschooling mother. Our family looked down on her, especially because most of the women chose to work full time until retirement. My sibling and I are both grown now and people have come to her to say they wish they had stayed home with their children instead of working themselves into the ground.

I feel like once you learn that the Lord loves you sooo much. We get to have a husband.😊We are his helper. We help and he provides and protects. Being home and able to just be a woman. Cook, clean, garden, see my babies grow, self care. Not having to strain our minds and bodies with going in the world to work. Just the peace from that is overwhelming. Thank you Jesus. And a person to spend life with. Time to worship and pray. God gave us this gift. I used to hate that. I wanted to work and be independent and hated my husband. I was competing. Out of order. But once the creator our Father taught me my purpose and affirmed me. Nothing else matters or opinions of man.

I still work full time, but through careful career choices, sacrifices, and luck I got a full time work from home position that allows me to stay home with my youngest. I am not offended by this book, but like you said, it needs to be read with caution, because women or men for that matter, in scenarios of abuse need to leave. It saved my life and my children are healthier for it.

I read this book as a new wife and I am so glad that it has come back on to my radar after 10 years. I can't wait to crack it open again. As far as other women in the family trying to undermine your marriage, I have recieved the oddest comments from my husband's aunts. His mother is one of five sisters and they all think I "worship" my husband because I care for him, serve him and feed him well. It was especially peculiar to me as a new wife- why wouldn't you want your nephew's wife to take excellent care of him? And be a good mother to his children? Why wouldn't you want your nephew to have the most amazing marriage? As time went on and their marriages fell apart and now all of them have boyfriends, I began to see that they were projecting their own issues and care and feeding of my husband was a condemnation of their lifestyles

I'm from Swaziland (Eswatini in Africa)... We have one of the worst economies in the world. But when I got married and had children, I was still unemployed and it really created a beautiful experience for me. So, when I got a job, I had this void and anger and hopelessness that I lost as a result of changing environments.. This video opened my eyes to how to balance and prioritize my family over everything else. It's such an overlooked topic that unfortunately hits home for a majority of us. I also faced pressure from home to get back to work, which I can't argue against due to the situation in my country. But all in all, my family is my life. God bless you and God bless His Word (Jesus), which is truth, light and the only way for all us.

Having a job outside the home- especially a corporate one and/or a career- is a false economy for wives and mothers. Every weekend we dread Monday morning and every week the only thing that keeps us going is looking forward to the weekend. When we get home from work, we have little energy and patience left for our kids and/or husband. We barely have any energy left to cook dinner and/or start cleaning. What kind of life is this that we have chosen for ourselves? Feminism tricked us. I want out.

I think the pressure women feel from other women to be independent. Is that if you are a sahm you are vulnerable and are easy to be abused and hurt by men without integrety. To be a wife to a man who is in Godly is a thin line to being left destitute with no money, no food and no protection. Please be kind to those in your life that are trying to pressure you into work and financial independence. Marage is a sacred bond that can be used in an un Godly way. It is definitely better to train our children, family's and friends what a Godly man is too.

Some people are hard sleepers and need a very loud and shrill wake up call and respond best to bluntness or tough love. Other people need to have their hand held and their feelings coddled or they will rebel against the message. I think there is a place for many styles of disseminating the truth. people have to have some self accountability for searching for the truth (and recognizing it when they see it even if they don't like the messenger) and then finding a messenger they want to hear it from without completely sabotaging themselves by writing off the message itself.

I am previously divorced. The only time I would ever advise a women to leave her husband and subject her family to that horrid is if he is being abusive or possibly committing adultry. My kids and I were homeless for 2.5 months after I left my ex. Going through that was as if someone died. My heart literally hurt. I believe they call that broken heart syndrom. Divorce is an absolutely horrible experience and one that a person should avoid if at all possible. That is what I would advise someone as a once divorced women. That uis what I remind myself when things are rough in my marriage. I once had a friend who was going through a rough time. I mean a really rough time. Her husband and her started fighting during this rough time.... because of the rough time. She told me she threatened to take their kid and leave him. I told her to remember that the stress is the enemy, not her husband and she won't find another one like him so hang on to him. They are still married.

I listen to a lot of podcast and content that have similar message to yours but theirs is coming more so from a secular perspective. So again I really appreciate your videos. Im not a mother yet, I am not a wife, though im engaged and can honestly say that I agree with everything you say about the importance of raising your kids and devoting yourself to your family. I’ve always felt this was of upmost importance, even over career, money, and anything else. To me, raising good kids is a lot of work but it’s more rewarding than anything else you could do. So thank you, thank you, thank you.

It is not just your family sis, it is 100% mine as well. I watched the first video and was like yes I feel that, I agree. Now I'm listening to this one and I am totally and completely convicted. Like, my disappointment in myself is intense. I know I need to give myself grace though. I didn't know any better. I listened to something before that resonated with what you said about ending a conversation that may be leading to division between you and your husband. You have to be so careful who you tell your business to, if anyone. Even your family, especially your family. When my marriage was on the verge of ending, not one person in my life told me to fight to make it work or question my role in it all. My mother who hated her father, was divorced and single had nothing of encouragement to tell me and can I blame her? She never saw or experienced what it meant to make a marriage work or to stop pointing the finger and make a change in herself. Man this was so convicting. Thank you got taking one for the team and reviewing this book. I'm in tears.

SUCH a good series! I just found your channel and have enjoyed listening while working around my house in the evening. I haven’t read this book (yet) but can think of a few women on social media with ministries aimed at women who have such poor delivery; and I just want to scream, “would it kill you to display even an inkling of empathy to the women you are trying to impact?!” You can speak truth without compromising while still being kind, and you have absolutely nailed it. ❤️✝️

I am sure that many of us millennials have ran smack into the wall when it comes to navigating marriage! I know for me it has taken years, almost a decade to really apply what God truly wants from ME as a WIFE. Not for me to try to change my marriage after the fact of choosing my partner like you went over in the first video. I agree that as a wife, I am a keeper of the home; ( not a 'house wife' I guess because in english it is summed up as a washed up house slave that had potential) a keeper, a watcher, prayer warrior, care taker, nurturer. I can only do these things if submit to my husband and obey the word. I am loving the spiritual growth I've gained throughout the years and being blessed with the wisdom of the word. I am also guilty of wanting to please certain family members and for many years it built resentment within me. Not wanting to submit to my husband and seeing house work as truly unenjoyable. Not one time have I complained about the effort I put into caring for our 4 soon to be 5 children. My children are who remind me of how good I have it. They are fed, clothed, clean, and happy. The fact that my husband has a good paying job during this crazy time we live in shows me how I have God's mercy. And for us for keep it, I can't have the attitude I had before. I have seen your videos a year or 2 after I began to truly embrace my role and you were like a breath of fresh air. Validating that being soft, feminine, submissive, obedient were terms that were taken out of context and abused. That all of those qualities were what will keep my husbands attention and just make marriage much easier.

@BindiMarc WOW! Girl, i watched the 4th one first and honestly that's when I asked the question "doesn't my husband have any responsibility?" But quickly was I convicted that his responsibility is not my concern. My concern is my responsibility to do what God has designed me to do as a wife! But nonetheless, i was absolutely going to continue to listen regardless, because truth may hurt sometimes but it is SO good. Thank you for making these videos, I would've never known this book existed, I've been struggling in my search of practical ways of being a biblical wife due to it being hard to find in biblical sermons. My sister sent this to me! SO good. Maybe one question i have for you is what if it's my very own husband that wants me to work and possibly do daycare? He says he wants me to stay at home BUT inflation.... which i understand is becoming a burden on the finances. You see, though, if i were to get a job all that money would just go to daycare AND the detriment of my newborns spiritual, nutritional, and familial well-being. I've ALWAYS wanted to be a stay at home wife and mom. So what am i to do? I feel subtly pressured to be like his mom who worked and took care of the home, but like we all know... that wears one out. It honestly stresses me out just by thinking about taking all of that on. I can't do it all, I'm not superwoman. And the stress of doing it has already shown in my ill-temperament.

“How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Hi I’ve been subscribed for a while and I’ve been enjoying this series you started. When I heard you mention you were a home maker my ears perked up. I grew up with my mom and stepfather and it always felt that my mom was both a nurse and a home maker. After being home for a year and some change post pandemic, I really don’t see myself working in an office setting again. I’m curious to know if your main focus the family? Do you also bring in an income? This book sounds really good and would have been a great read in my women’s study class back in college.

Hmm... this is only my 2nd full yr though of homeschooling, so maybe my feeling totally spent by 5pm is bcs I'm learning to balance school and home life. I don't want this calling to get in the way of being present as a wife and mother, who needs to have love and patience for my family. Any thoughts from other homeschool moms?

I love Dr. Laura and have read several of her books, including The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, which I give as a bridal shower gift. If you have listened to her radio show for any period of time, you will see that she is actually very compassionate, empathetic and kind. She is also very direct and tells it like it is in order to cut through people's excuses and lies (mostly the ones they tell themselves). Some of her calls bring me to tears. You can literally see and hear the breakthroughs with some callers. Dr. Laura, though not a Christian, embodies many godly attributes. I totally disagree with your assessment of her harsh tone. She really does it to get to the heart of the matter. And if you read between the lines in this book, you will clearly see that she is hard on women because they have a lot of power to create a wonderful marriage and they get all the goodies when their husbands are well cared for (which is the whole point she makes)

Bindi I agree with you agreeing with the author of this book, as a Christian woman myself. I learnt alot from this series (started watching last year, I'm repeating it now) and have been trying to align myself with these teachings in repentance to God through Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. Now I have encountered a problem with my husband saying he doesn't want a housewife, not because he needs assistence financially to take care of the family but just because being housewife is taken to be a negative thing. I have a 6 months old kid and a 2 year old, when he told me he doesn't want a housewife the 6month was 3months then. I tried to respectfully show him all the possibilities I could think of, taking such small children to daycare or having someone else look after them besides me but I didn't win. I am tormented everyday when I have to take my kids to daycare😭What do I do now?🤷‍♀️

I loved your analogy of salt pertaining to a marriage, that was spot on and brilliant. I'd like to add to your ending statement you had about honoring God by being the best wife you can be. I would add that in doing that, you are also allowing your husband to become the best version of himself in the context of God. The chapter that comes to mind is Proverbs 31 where it states what an honorable woman is, but it mentions something unique when it says "her husband is known in the gates". By being a God -honoring wife and submitting to him she has not only honored God (the highest calling) but her husband has also had the freedom, power, and influence to become an someone who others look up to. When the home is in its proper order, the world will flourish.
