As a sx/so 5, I appreciate you pointing out how we tend not to fit stereotypes. No one has ever correctly guessed me for a 5, but I've been mistaken for a 6, 8, and 9, and many have mistaken me for a 7. When Naranjo said sx5s look pretty much like all other 5s, he certainly didn't have sx/so in mind. Many people would label me an extravert or something similar. That said, the idea of being distracted doesn't land with me, and I seem to be acutely aware of boundaries. I also tend to be acutely aware of my more expensive possessions. I've left countless pairs of cheap sunglasses at restaurants or wherever, but I'd never lose a phone or a laptop, probably because I don't have enough money to be that careless, and I've lived through circumstances where I had to sleep with one eye open.

Bea / Uranio - I am real puzzled by you saying Type 8 are one of the most naive types. What about their inability to trust and the fixation on vengeance? I am really confused! How can I square distrust and being naive?

I agree with the fact that 8s are naive ; that is why they are really pissed Off when someone betray them (when the 8 trust, they trust naively - not like a 6 for exemple) - French 9w8So/sp here🙋🏻‍♀️

What five hasn't done a bunch of free stuff for other people? Lack of boundary assertions and that infernal disintegration to 7. But yeah, if you give me an *option* I'll opt out as a default, which may be much less common in self-pres last 5s? Or do self-pres last 5s opt out of non-social/sexual options all the time? Aren't 6s *supposed* to be out of touch with their fear? What's paradoxical about that? No one can pay attention to everything. You place your attention (or faith) where you think best, and otherwise trust that the rest will be taken care of. Every type does this, except the most neurotic people. I think of myself as naive. Not as naive as my SO/SP 1w9 father. May it's just the lack of boundary assertions and inability to deal with others socially (at least until I get used to them) except in the way that was modeled by my father. There are times when I even realize in the moment that I'm acting naive for particular reasons, and should do something else, or assert a boundary, but that's the silent observer, not the active participant. So I let them steamroll me while acting like my father modeled. You both are using naivete in an interpersonal sense, I think. I'd guess that Beatrice's self-pres 5 friend is a social-second, and thus isn't overly invested or repressed in the instinct.

The right word for "practicity" would be "practicability". I´d NEVER correct a person who I am talking to though. Especially not when the video is going to be uploaded and everybody would see me correcting another person (aka embarrass them in front of the viewers).

This reaction is interesting to me. I found that interaction quite endearing because they seem to have such a solid relationship and are comfortable pointing out things like that to help each other and take it with lightness and humor and from a place of goodwill.

She looks like she's always trying to prove herself, usually by trying to show how much better she is. The gentleman is very pleasant. He said that it took him a lot of effort to be more grounded. He must have done a great job because when looking at him 'grounded' is the first word that comes to my mind. It's so inspiring that a person can achieve so much in self-development

Wow do you ever have it completely wrong!! For reference “she” is Beatrice Chestnut, MA, PhD. She is a highly accomplished and educated woman, having earned a PhD in communication and an MA in clinical psychology, and she is a licensed psychotherapist. She is known as one of the most authoritative voices and thought leaders in the modern Enneagram movement! She has been involved with Enneagram work for over 30 years as a business consultant, and coach, as well as facilitating workshops on the Enneagram globally. She has taught on the collegiate level at several universities and institutes. She was trained at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business in group facilitation. She is the sole author the highly acclaimed books, The Complete Enneagram: 27 Paths to Greater Self-Awareness, and The 9 Types of Leadership: Mastering the Art of People in the 21st-Century Workplace. Actually, her partner in more recent years, Uranio Paes, has lackluster, vague and seemingly padded credentials. I find him uncomfortable, abrasive and his ego is far larger than his knowledge base. I’ve seen her bend over backwards to afford him an unmerited equal stance- but he is basically riding on her coattails and it weights down her brilliant, creative, and naturally graceful flow... I can only imagine that Beatrice finds being online instead of in the same room with him far less oppressive!
