nice dude, they really bring a more modern look to the back end while still keeping the original shape. Thats the best of both worlds, good job. im actually preparing to do a project on my tail lights too. quick question; is it necessary to use the voltage regulator for dimming the brake lights? im just asking cause the tail lights i have on my rx8 are aftermarket led lights that have an adaptor that hooks right into the stock harness, there's no additional drivers or anything. Theres also a seperate harness for the turn signal, reverse light and side markers. When i press on the brake they light up like normal. Do you use one because ur s2000 gives you light errors and hyperflashes without it? thanks!

I have a bulb attached in line so avoid hyper flashing . The voltage regulator is just so I can have a low brightness red running light and a full voltage brake light . If you try other ways of dimming , you lose a lot of energy while it is used as a duller running light . This is usually dissipated by heat . The method of using a Buck converter loses less energy ( not much heat either ). I’ve bought red tint to tint the whole tail light but haven’t yet done it . Best of luck with your project .

Great Video!!! Can you post a link to the COB lights an the Converts?
@Dentinvent2 жыл бұрын
Just clarifying , you want a link to where I bought the cob ring lights and not sure what you mean about the “converts “

@@Dentinvent sorry meant convertors. Basically all the items needed for the last modification you did with the COB LEDs.
@Dentinvent2 жыл бұрын
The items I used are like these ( I prefer the ones with three blue pot adjusters as one controls voltage output and one controls current limiting . The middle pot I think it to do with battery charging circuits . www.ebay.com.au/itm/322613826308?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=0HkzUFqgS06&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=PgJMlECQRru&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY The cob you just search angel eyes cob halo on eBay and work out the sizing you need for the effect you want .

@@Dentinvent thank you! Great video it was rally helpful!!! Did you also do a how to install video of the convertor?

Try watching this at about 5.43 and it shows how I connected a buck converter originally that controlled both rear strip leds . If you pause the video now and then , you should be able to see how I wired it . You’ll notice it is the same buck converter . kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJCVYWiphqlpjqc

how hot do these cob lights get in a sealed headlight housing?
@Dentinvent2 ай бұрын
Almost no heat at all. The electronics I used to dim the lights also have low power loss and hence not much heat .

Are the lights for sale?
@Dentinvent2 жыл бұрын
Rocky, I’d hate to sell them as they took so long to make but I’m sure you could do it yourself . Just follow the video and it’s easy .
