Thanks so much for releasing an updated tutorial! Quick question, I noticed that I get fairly low frames in UE5 sometimes, such as when I tried the Medieval village bit at the end of the previous tutorial despite having a 3080ti and overall a very recent and up-to-date system. Are there any settings in UE5 that I can adjust to make using the program a bit smoother?

Honestly, ngl, it absolutly ticks me off when people pay-wall knowlage. Imo, everyone has the right to learn as long as they are willing and know where to get it. I really respect people like this creator who don't pay-wall videos or "classes" like this and not only do they not pay-wall it, they are very informative, detailed, and well struictured. I have seen a few who will cut their work a bit and to a glossed over free version of their classes and it is just so cheep. Hats off to this creator for balancing making a living and being a supportive member of the UE community.

For anyone that finds themselves seeing an empty desert at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="230">3:50</a> instead of the table and the chairs: Go to File > Open Level... Now (assuming you had correctly ticked 'Include Starter Content' at the Project Creation screen), in the 'Open Level' Dialog, navigate to 'All/Content/StarterContent/Maps' and select 'Minimal_Default'.

FOUND THE SOLUTION TO MY ISSUE IN <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="126">2:06</a>:37 For those who don't see automatically the layers that Unreal Sensei has when applying the Material to the Landscape, on the upper menu of Landscapes, to the right, there is a button that, when hovered, says "Create Layers from assigned materials", click on it and UE will create them. If you had no changes to your lighting at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="108">1:48</a>:00 after baking, you might still have Lumen enabled in your project settings. Go to Edit > Project Settings > Global Illumination and turn off Lumen. If it’s still not baking properly, static lighting may not be enabled. Go to Edit > Project Settings > Engine > Rendering > Misc Lighting and check Allow Static Lighting.

Anyone using 5.5 and you are at or around <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="210">3:30</a>:00, when you drag the M_Landscape_Inst to the "Landscape Material" slot, you will see black but not any target layers. I am new to UE, and starting with 5.5 and 5.5 won't show the layers automatically like in the video. You need to click on "Create Layers From Assigned Materials" icon that is located on the "Layers" sub-section of the "Targe Layers" section. It's the icon on the far right. This will generate the layers.

Small hint for others encountering the same issue as me. At the Lumen chapter if you see no changes even after enabling infinite extent and lumen in the PostProcessVolume, it is because of the Engine Scalability Settings, mainly the global illumination option being set to medium or lower. You need this set to high in order to actually see lumen activated.

This video alone has helped me more than all the learning videos provided by Epic put together. I had started to learn UE5 from a couple sources including Epic's own learning page, after only a short time of watching this, I decided to go back and learn the fundamentals the way you laid them out. It has helped me grasp Unreal so much better and in record time, weeks worth of tutorial videos covered in a single 5 hour video and in a way that actually stuck with me. Starting the castle level section as of writing this, but if all your classes are of this quality, can almost guarantee I'll be investing in that Masterclass. Such a legend, cannot thank you enough!

This is a great tutorial! I started watching your first one, then noticed this one. Honestly my man, the effort you're putting into this goes well above and beyond. You explain everything perfectly; to the point, and concise. Its not just the best UE5 tutorial I've seen, its the best tutorial. Great work, and thanks! I used to be a mechanic, but I lost my arm in a motorcycle accident. Since I can't do my job anymore, I figured I'd try making a video game. I picked up UE5 last week, and went through a few tutorials, and got nowhere.. except how to light a scene. I'm 3hrs into your vid, and I've created an open world, textured the landscape, built custom buildings, textured those, and brought in a playable character... until I found this video, I thought I'd never figure this out. Thanks so much. 👍

All I can say is wow. I have always wanted to get into game design and what I have researched about coding just seemed so daunting that I gave up. I have been playing more and more games that have been made with Unreal Engine so I looked in to it. Aside from the shock of how big projects can be (definitely need to invest in an external drive), the sheer feeling of being overwhelmed when firing it up the first time. I sat looking at the menus and toolbars without absolutely no clue where to even begin. I looked up some other tutorials but as a complete beginner with no knowledge, they were not as clear in the explanations. I applaud you for making this tutorial and while it took me 3 days to finish it, it has given me hope that I can take what I have in my imagination and bring it to light. I was afraid of having to create everything from scratch. 3D modeling is fine but texturing, coding, debugging, all of that can be frightening. While I am seeing this 2 years later, I so excited to begin! Even if I am the only one who will ever play what I make, just the knowledge that I did it is enough for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. You made something incredibly complex so much easier to understand. Upon finishing the tutorial, you earned a life-long subscriber!

I am 10 years experienced Unity Game Developer. I have worked on tens of different projects. Published my own Mobile games, Steam games, VR game and even multiplayer co-op game. But I have to admit that if you are not very very skilled on Unity, it is difficult to make the game reach the same quality with Unreal. Before getting old, it is wise to learn Unreal. I passed first one hour very fast because most of the things are same. Let's find my old C++ programming books from University years :D

I bought the Masterclass by you. Tutorials are super east to understand and the members discord is always a blast to go through. I have a problem with procrastination, I spent almost 3 hours wandering the Australian outback world before I moved on. Ue5 is amazing xD

this is some of the best content I have ever seen for Unreal Engine 5. I have learned more in the first hour here than I have reading and watching all of Epics official documentation and tutorials.

This is an incredible intro tutorial I appreciate all the hard work that went into making it. I decided to pick up unreal engine as a hobby and design games in my spare time since I've always wanted to but never felt like I had the skills or tools to start and this tutorial is really building my confidence that I can actually do some things even though I'm only 2 hours in

Hands down, the best UE5 tutorial I've found! As a complete beginner, I couldn't have asked for more. I'm so glad you went over and actually explained things that you were clicking on. Not to mention, this was all COMPLETELY FREE! Which means I didn't have to sift through garbage "courses" on sites like Udemy and Skillshare just to gamble my money away on whether or not I will get a good instructor. Thank you so much Unreal Sensei!

OMG!!! This tutorial couldn't have come at a better time. I finally built my dream 3D animation PC last week after months of saving money for it, and I had just started watching the other 4-hour full UE5 course you had published. I was already learning so much from it, and now I get a notification about this new one in my email (I rang the bell :-)). I can imagine it's packed with even more cool tips and tricks to help complete beginners like me get familiar with UE5 super fast. Thanks a millie, Zach. Am also definitely joining the course on your website.

Lol i bet there are a lot losers here thinking... ooh boy I watch this video and then boom i can also develop games and get rich and bla bla.... nah bro nah... you will stay poor and you can't do anything about it. You can't compete vs people who have done this all their lives... you just can't ... especially if you are low IQ or average and if you are already 20 or 30 ... just face reality you are poor a loser and you will stay like that for the rest of your life... time to wake up... real life is not like your MAGICAL THINKING in your head.

Thanks for your unsolicited two cents, @@tanelviil9149. Contrary to all your wild assumptions, many of us just like tinkering with technology because it's fun and we're curious, not because we want to get rich as you put it. You sound like a broke a$$ idiot who already knows he will die in poverty, and is therefore trying to infect as many other people as possible with that mindset.

Holy crap this was a dense video! I feel like each minute was a weeks worth of information! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this! To anyone like me who has ZERO experience, I recommend pausing OFTEN and practicing each concept and messing around with it. This will help you remember and better understand each concept.

Totally agree, the pacing is on point but worth taking the extra time to practice and expand on the lessons provided. Fully grasping these fundamentals will no doubt save countless hours down the road.
@kj3d812
@kj3d812 2 жыл бұрын
@@RobBossOne disagree that the pacing is "on point" -- if it were, it wouldn't require SO much stopping, going back, starting again.There are also parts where he rushes through details (2:17:15 for example), which again requires stopping, going back, starting again, just to try to follow. These things are so familiar to instructors that they forget that students who are brand new need more time to follow what's going on on the video and then find it in their own UE on their own computer screen.

Just a tip for the future that I'd greatly appreciate; Announce the neccessary download earlier, as some people like me still have shitty internet, even living in a western country. So far I enjoy the tutorial a lot! Gonna take a break for the download, but I am sure I'll continue to learn a lot through you! By telling us earlier about the download, it could download in the background while doing the first hour.
