I remember he was apart of the conversation about dating as a Black gay man on the Grapevine. I really wanted to hear him speak more on that episode, so I’m glad that he’s the person in conversation with you on this episode and topic. I love the 11/11. It’s just so cute. Great conversation once again. 🖤🙌🏽

My husband and I got married Oct 10, 2010, at 10:10 AM in Washington D.C. (10-10-10)☺️ Our marriage was not recognized back in PA, where we resided. It was crazy to us that we’d have to leave our state just to get married.

Always appreciate Larry’s authenticity - we were so inspired by their wedding too, it was the first Black gay wedding we saw (besides that Noah’s Arc movie wedding lol). All these years later, glad to call him friend ❤

Great episode, I’ve been a supporter of Larry’s for years and his public wedding/marriage to Nolan was a game changer for Black queer men to see. Hearing his story is pretty inspirational, mainly due to the face he placed he and his husbands needs before that of their family & friends. We as (Black) queer man don’t always have the luxury of doing that. To hear him practically say to his family this is what it is and it’s non-negotiable is something many of us needed to hear!

Marriage was "traditionally" a business agreement. Now it's evolved into making a commitment with all the benefits. Where is it written that only heterosexual people are entitled to being love and loving, having a commitment and making passionate love? Who said only heterosexual people are the only one's entitled to the financial and financial benefits of marriage? They don't have a monopoly on love, it's for everyone.

Guys, please, for the love of god, don’t tell your parents that 1.) you’re gay and 2.) You’re getting married, via mail. I can’t even imagine how his father felt not having that conversation in person. And although I’m gay, I can imagine his father was very confused and hurt by the way in which it was revealed.

I agree with you ! He probably only did it that way because he might not have been able to have that conversation with him initially for his own reasons .

Were there certain parts cut off? I would really like to know what were the conversations like with the family especially since they didn’t know about his sexuality. TO ME it sounds like he was quick to shut his dad down when he was expressing his concerns, but I don’t necessarily think it was because it’s gay but because they don’t know anything about this man he’s marrying.

Imagine you with someone for years and something happens to your partner and you have no say in what happens to them because you aren’t recognized as anything but maybe a roommate and you can’t make decisions for your partner.
