Hi Jayson great video as usual. Just a minor observation i noticed that the brake pad springs were installed on the same side. My manual shows that one is in front and the other behind the brake pads. Noting that i have a 1980 FJ40 so possibly your year maybe different? Anyway keep up the good work.

Yes mate, you're spot on the manuals do show the Springs one front one behind. It was already set up, the way I installed on the video. I did try and set it up with one in front one behind and the pads try to fold forward.

Awesome video! Im in the middle of doing the wheel cylinders and making new hard lines. I ordered all new wheel cylinders. what I find interesting is all 4 rear cylinders have different part numbers but each one visually looks the same. Is there actually a difference between them ?

Yes it is interesting that they all have different part numbers, to be honest I don't know the differences between them. What year model is your Cruiser?

Hey mate, did you buy new springs for the rear shoes? If so, where did you get them. I knew you would have a video; I forgot how I took my cylinders off, haha-putting it all back together once the parts turn up.

The original springs were in great condition, so reused them But onlineautopart.com.au will have some.

Hi Jason, Love the videos. Entertaining, educational and inspiring. I am a in the process of restoring a 1969 FJ45 which has been made so much easier with all your hard work. One big question I am wrestling with is whether to install a brake booster in the rebuild. This requires major changes to the firewall, but will provide better stopping power and future proof for front disc brakes - do you think the booster in necessary or will original brake set up be sufficient? I will dearly love to drive an older FJ45 with the original set up to get a sense of the stopping power. Would love your opinion if you have considered this.

Hi Murray, thank you so much for your support! As for your question I have never done the booster mod, but the people I know that have tell me it is the best mod they could have ever have done to the braking system.

@@40ChannelCruiser Well it looks like you'll have the perfect controlled environment test: FJ40 (I assume with brake booster) versus 1965 FJ45 without booster! As an update I am looking at having an extension mounting bracket made up to allow a 40 series booster to be added to the 1969 firewall (without removing the vertical brace that separates the brake master from the clutch slave cylinder).
