Holy shit, I couldn't think of a more appropriate theme for the Final battle between Father and Son. This fight was 26 years in the making. And it amazingly made Gendo even more of a tragic villain. Sagisu is a musical GOD.

I like that you post this comment, and it's kind of a continuation of the meta narrative first suggested in End of Evangelion that once in the instrumentality world, everything is suggested to be a scripted scene with a production set and people in the background monitoring the production of a narrative to be fed to the viewer - case in point, that scene with toddler Shinji working on the sand castle with the studio lights in the back and the nameless observer watching from atop the scaffolds - likely representing an agend of NERV monitoring Shinji's every move even when he was a toddler.

Great track. Can't stop listening to it. For me, this battle represents the conflict between the original show (Eva 01 with Shinji) and the Rebuilds (Eva 13 with Gendo). They have the exact same moves, they are one and the same. Because they represent the younger Anno and the current Anno and their differing views on life.
