Those flies were crazy. Things like that always seem to happen when we are frantically trying to get something else done. Jo will appreciate a fellow "cleaner". I suppose a barn is like this house, you never run out of things to clean.

My mercy! You have come SO FAR with the house. There is so much for you to be proud of. Now there’s a nonprofit and volunteers, and the house is coming back to life. The Ghost Coast event looked really cool!

Things have been rapidly evolving here. It's not what I invisioned when I bought the house but it is such a good outcome for the house. This year was so busy and next year is already lookin to be just as crazy (in a good way). We feel like we've turned a corner in the process.

It was well worth the effort. We were thrilled with the turnout. That cardboard is still in the basement where I left it. I guess it's time to really clean up and get it to the recycling center. Thanks for the reminder.🙂

It was a ton of work but it was so worth it. We raised enough money to start our electrical work which will be a game changer in so many ways. Each event gets a little easier as some of the work gets checked off the list for good.

The little truck for moving the logs looked fun. Great update 2x👍 Remember to run the tap (faucet) occasionally to stop stinky sewer smells filling the house, especially in the heat.

Boy are you spot on about running water. I have a long story about that. I'll spare you the detail since you are well versed about the problem. That little machine made the job go so fast. No need to cut the pieces into sized that people could pick up.

That pink bathroom reminds me of a calico dress I had on when my sister threw up in my lap on a bus to Baltimore. I'll never forget the experience, and color. I think you should get several artisans, one for each room, and let them follow a color palette, and just finish the rooms for you. Why refurbish everything to original.

It's funny how childhood memories stick with you. Since we are going to be a historic house museum, everything has to be put back the way it was originally so we don't have the option of changing much.

The little log tractor was also used to move the damaged tree parts at my place last week, but be careful! Their bucket truck conveniently (unfortunately) found two sinkholes under my driveway 💰💰💰💰💰💰 and crushed it into the ground. One thing after another.

Love the “walk” through the house! It looks so good, and each time, there is more furniture. Would you consider posting shots of the photographs you have up so far? I want to visit in person, but have some mobility issues right now. I so want to see the history of “our” house. Thanks!

We are about to work on our yearly wrap up and definitely need to show some before/during/after shots. We also have something which I think is exciting going on. We are working with one of our visitors to do a new full house tour video. Our first one was done when the house was all boarded up and the light was terrible. We are about to get started and hopefully have it done in two or three months. I'm so happy you consider it your house too. I've always felt that this house was too important to belong to any one person, that is should be available to everyone.

The house has undergone so many changes this year. It has been incredibly busy and I am in need of a break. I thought that would happen at Thanksgiving, but it did not. Maybe Christmas will be a little quieter. We just finished our last event and don't have anything planned until spring, but we want to ramp up work on the chauffer's quarters and get that done in the first quarter so well see. The Ghost Coast was a lot of fun. Hopefully it will double in size next year. It was a great fundraiser for us.

The tile is actually in perfect condition. It does need a serious scrubbing. Now that we have running water we shoul be able to make this bathroom shine.

I would think you would be long overdue for new valve stems, but glad your toilet works. You're sure to get more volunteers with that, I will probably never go back to Galveston again.

I am able to use the newer car since we got me insurance now. Our lights just went out. We have battery operated indoor/outdoor Christmas lights on a timer on the patios so we can find the door.

It must be nice to have the 1920s bathroom working again. I imagine with a bit of repainting of the ceiling and trim, that room would be the first room to be fully restored? I was wondering, at 10:25 what is the third tap above the two on the bottom?

You are spot on. A little scraping and paint and this room could be finished. We are looking at installing a fan/light/heater ceiling fixture, but that's not critical and can be done at any time. I'm pondering a way to hide it by recessing it slightly with a decorative grate so the plastic doesn't show. I hate to admit this, but it's early in the morning and I can't remember what that tap does. I remember tracing it down because it is so odd but now I've gone blank. I'm heading down today and will look at it again.
