They make a stern mount trolling motor. A manual anchor pole would be nice too. I’ve seen a push pole/anchor pole which would be nice. Just looking at the two of you, I’d say the skiff is definitely more versatile. Probably having a lithium battery for a trolling motor is a must to save weight. I bet for one person it’s awesome, but seems to be acceptable for two people as well. Great to see one of these in action. Slick little package!

Mark I have a Gheenoe LT25 and fish the same waters as you. I think it’s beneficial to have a trolling motor and a push pole. They are both good in different situations. You still need around a foot of water for the trolling motor so when you get real skinny the push pole is needed. If I could choose just one it would be a trolling motor, the 55lb rip tide is killer. Also if you are looking for a more budget push pole check out TFO mangrove poles. You self assemble, much more flexible than a stiffy but your boat is so light it won’t matter. Gordy and Sons in Houston sells push poles. Awesome rig and safe boating to you

Mark on Mercury outboard you might want to purchase a waterproof digital LCD inductive hour meter (under $10), it's a small meter that attaches to your motor that determines how many hours you have used your motor. Mur's 20hp outboards their break-in periods are 10hrs, afterwards you can run them normally. If you don't plan to use the motor after 4 months or more check up the procedure of winterizing. You don't need to spend more money on a pushing pole you can build one out for under $5 out of Charlotte PVC pipe with handle or garden 10ft stalks at Walmart. Get a pair of mini quick fist clamps to strap them to your skiff, so they don't fly off when you go faster. I have 2 on my boat both used for when I need to get into shallow water and when I need to use an anchor pole instead of using my main anchor. Congrats on the skiff hope you use it more, tight lines bro.

the solo skiff seems much easier to paddle compared to your micrso skiff.. I have owned a solo and previously a PA14 .. i have launched the solo off the beach thru the surf into the atlantic many times this year.. no issues with paddling (cant use the motor within 100ft of the beach due to swimmers). your skiff does have a very nice layout.. with the console .. hope to see many more videos of it in action.. might make that pushpole a dual purpose stake out pole as well :)

Backing small short trailers can be a real headache, if it just does not work for you look into a front hitch for your truck. You don't need anything expensive or heavy duty you will only be using it to move a very short distance at idle speed. If you can't find one made for your truck try a local fabricator.

For my 18ft Hewes flats boat I bought an MHX push pole. It's 21ft full carbon fiber and was about $400. With the MHX poles your supposed to cut it to the size you want. Ideally you want your push pole to be 2 feet longer than your boat and you basically just put the pole in the ground and climb the pole. On a boat your size it should be pretty effortless.

For a less expensive push pole look at the SuperStick $199 at Bass Pro shop or Cabela's. Mine works great, it does weight a little more but not as expensive as a Carbon Marine or Stiffy. It also telescopes so you can reduce it down in size. It comes with mounts but do not trust them when trailering your skiff, I put mine in the bed of my truck till I get on the water. They hold fine on the water. I also have a Micro Anchor with an Eight foot spike. In combination I can position myself to right where I need to be. The trolling motor would be the answer but if you are in supper skinny water (my skiff will float in 3" with the motor up) the trolling motor is too shallow. For both you would have spent a little over $700. Probably will be in Christmas bay Cold Pass area this Thursday so if you see me give me a hollar (small skiff with poling platform same color as yours) you can check it out. Welcome to the Micro-Skiff world.
