No idea how I’ve missed so many of these episodes, didn’t even know you’d started a podcast but I love it. The banter between you both is excellent. Having just started a podcast with my wife recently, I’m very into checking out the audio of other people’s work, and this is definitely up there. I’m an M1 Max owner and despite the huge gains in performance between now M1 and M4, I still can’t justify it, so I’m likely going to wait until M5 or 6. My machine is still blazing fast right now, so I’m happy. I’ve started messing with local LLM’s via Ollama so having the upgraded GPU and neural engine of M4 would be nice, but not a few grand worth of nice enough to make it a worthwhile purchase. Re Mac mini, knowing how very little I reboot my system or I should say, shut it down to require the power button, I’m personally not bothered by it. Most people will likely have it in a vaguely inaccessible part of their room anyway, so is the power button fiasco such a big deal? I’ve never owned a mini so maybe I’m just plain wrong about this and I should stay in my own lane, but I know that I probably have to hit the power button on my laptop once a month if even that. Sorry this has been such a long winding comment haha.

I should come to UK for vacation, I always loved the British Speech and living, seems more laid back, depending of course where you live, big cities are more bustling. Maybe next summer, and drop in and drop off tea and crumpets. 😂

If you look after devices there’s no reason that you can’t get a good few years out of them, iPhones i aim to get 4 years out, I’ve just changed by series 5 Apple,watch as it’s 5 years old and no longer supported, I also get about 5 years out of an iPad, and about 5-6 years out of a Mac, so defiantly get my moneys worth

I can imagine why Erin's phone battery health isnt very good. I've noticed a lot of women, including my wife, charge their phone back to 100% if they drop below 80%. It's too much strain on the battery health.

I am so stuck in Apple ecosystem. If I could run Mac OS and iPad OS on different devices then I would never buy overpriced Apple devices.

I very rarely turn my Apple hardware off so why is an on/off button underneath such a serious issue? If you actually use Apple hardware all the time it isn't :-)

while i do understand your point of view, it makes me remember the apple mouse, that one that has a usb port on the bottom of the device to recharge it you dont recharge often, but when you do, you cant use the device it is a poor design choice, if you hate the power button, put it in the back, no need to turn up the unit to turn on or off if it had a kernek type crash and needs service lack of vision there in general you can live with it, but, you shouldnt have to

Maybe Apple purposefully made the SSD And storage upgradable, for those that really want to do it, because they will need to buy another apple laptop or desktop to run the same OS and run the DFU. 😂 Wonder what Apples real meaning of DFU is? 😂
