Might have to take a trip from Aberdeen to Birmingham in the LES saab for X-plane.. Love flying it, not sure how true to life it is but it flies really nice and seems a very stable steady bird.

Sounds kind of like you didn't idle the engines before touchdown. Just wondering why this would be? Or if I'm mistaken! Haha :) great video!

From what I've seen.. The throttles have a detent at flight idle. If I understand correctly, any lower than flight idle would put the prop into Beta range. I think that is where the angle of the blades are almost flat faced just before they angle into reverse. So if they slammed it into beta range at say 50-30 foot from the ground, it would most likely drop like a brick. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but the 2 levers at the right , nearest the co-pilot are the prop RPM levers and the throttles are actually torque levers. I think with these, it is a set RPM and the torque levers actually change the pitch of the blades.

it sounds like that because its a constant speed prop..its pretty cool.. the torque is low but the rpm is still high until the engine actually slows down :D thats why when they make throttle adjustments when landing you actually dont hear the rpm changing..the governor is keeping the rpm the same while changing blade pitch

They really don’t know your phonetic call sign at BHX yet??

We do however sometimes if the crew use FRF the controller will call them FRF. The callsign is displayed on the ATC strip as Fairfleet.
