It's really heartbreaking to see your old 900 that smashed up... Good to see you've got yourself a new project 900 and I'm looking forward seeing you restore it.

Love the 900, I’ve had one and it was my first and the best car I’ve ever owned. I’m happy you and your other half are healthy from the crash, looking forward to a new project! Best regards from Sweden

My jaw hit the floor after seeing the wreckage. Glad you’re okay. Looking forward to your content. I have a 1990 900S that needs some attention. Genders are rusted out. Headliner is falling. Shocks are terrible and the clutch needs to be repaired. Could be the slave or master. It’s a 5 speed and I love it. Thanks for your content.

Thanks for visiting my channel. Getting that darn plastic cover off the pressure plate is often the worst part of the clutch repair. I’d suspect the slave cylinder. A rebuild kit is just a few bucks but a new one is worth the peace of mind.

Thanks! Comments like yours are great encouragement. I'm just a guy with some tools, a camera and no fear of looking like a fool from time to time. I keep them short, educational and helpful for the average guy. There are SAAB owners out there with lots more knowledge and experience than me, so I never claim to be an expert or have all the answers.

Hooray, Lee!! Great to see you back on the 'Tube with another C900! I'm excited to see that it's a '94 Commemorative Edition! I own #354! Your first round of videos inspired me to really start digging into a lot of my own repairs on my car and I'm looking forward to following along on your latest Saab rescue journey!

I'm not sure if you remember but last summer I found your channel and I commented about how I would be getting a 900 of my own from my uncle's field of saabs in Saskatchewan, canada. I was heart broken when I saw your last video. Your new 900 will be up and going for cheap in no time, my saab sat for 18 years and I've only had to put $2000 into it and $600 of that was a set of tires. Best og luck to you and I'm glad that a commemorative 'vert went to someone like you

Lee Kelso the fuel system had rotted away so new fuel pump, filter, regulator, i rebuilt the injectors. MAF, TPS, hall sensor, o2 sensor, NTC, idle air control valve. I put in a power steering rack in the middle of january with jack stands and the motor still in the car (i used your video as a reference a lot). It's been 4 months of driving it everyday without a single problem

Chapara : That’s not a horrible job, but it is easier with a tool to unscrew the ring that secures it. Check the web for instructions on how to make one from PVC pipe

Greetings from a Saab NUT from NC since 1985. I have owned 18 SAABs, and currently drive 2 96 V4's from the early 70's, a '79 900 gle 5-door, and a 1993 900 CE. This might sound crazy but I'm actually looking to keep my gle a automatic. I was wondering if you have a auto transmission from what of your conversion jobs. Much thanks! Love your videos.
@LeeKelso
@LeeKelso 6 жыл бұрын
Sorry, that transmission is back on the road in someone else’s car. That’s quite an impressive Saab history . What brings you back to these cars?

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your Saab. They are beautiful and unique cars and are becoming harder and harder to find. I have a 1993 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible which I bought from the original owner in 1996. The car has 143,000 miles on it and is in pristine condition. My only complaint with the car is that it rides like an old car creaking and groaning as it goes over bumps. A recent change of the tires and shocks has done little to improve the ride. In your experience does restoring the suspension with new bushings and bearings significantly improve the ride of these cars or would I be wasting my money to do so
@LeeKelso
@LeeKelso 4 жыл бұрын
I recently replaced the front control arm bushings and believe that removed some of the "old car feel," but my SAAB also has squeaks and rattles that seem to be coming from interior panels. Without the roof, these cars suffer from a lack of stiffness and are more prone to flexing. That said, it's hard to know whether your cars old-age complaints will be resolved with new bushings. I assume when the shocks were replaced the rubber mounting components were too. If not, that could be the source of some sound. The front coil springs sit on platforms designed to pivot as the suspension moves up and down. Making sure those are moving freely is wise as they often rust. It's never a waste of money to replace items perished from time and wear, but whether it will solve your problem is difficult to predict.

WTF my 87 convertible looked EXACTLY the same like 0:49 after a crash last month. My door looked the same and the leaft rear tire too. The insurance gave me 15'000 Chf. for my car. I also wanted the wreck to take of some parts but the insurance company wanted 5'000 Chf. for the wreck. That was too much for me. I bought my convertible 4 years ago for 4'500 Chf. Now they are worth 15'000. Prices are going crazy here in switzerland.
