I have some intuition regarding my Hall sensor and idle problems + "check Engine". What was your discovery ?

@@Cavyann Well if the Hall sensor doesn't send any RPM signal the EZK control unit doesn't start the fuel pump so it renders the car completely dead. So if she's cranking fine but won't start at all and the fuel pump doesn't run that usually is the problem. Your idle problems usually cannot be caused by the Hall sensor. I would look for a new mass airflow sensor and/or idle control valve. Both can still be bought new (albeit not NOS).

ok, clear ! cheers. It does not look like my problem. Mine is the following : When it starts for the first time, everything is fine. No check engine light, idling at 1000rpm (maybe a bit high ?), no sensation of abnormal vibration. After a 30-minute stop following a 30-minute drive at 110km/h with normal temp, I restart and immediately, there is a hesitation sensation in the idle, dropping to 500rpm, stabilizing at 750rpm. And check engine light, low idle at 750rpm and sensation of vibration in the engine and chassis. Once in a while (rarely), idle will reach 3000rpm while driving, accelerating out of control... And then, after stopping, no restart until completely cold. Does it ring a bell ?@@ursusskandia

@@Cavyann ok so problems only when hot. Could be the air filter but I still set my money on air mass sensor or idle control valve. I also had similar problems because of bad spark plug cables in combination with an old ignition coil. Check also for vacuum leaks - usually they are worst when cold but you never know.

great video, i’ve watched this so many times. did you have any trouble w the fifth gear? it worked w the old one, and now the shifter sometimes jumps out of reverse. i think my shifter pin might be too flush w the rod, so i will measure more accurately and add the ~2mm to the pin

Before intalling this piece I had problems with 5th gear selection...as a matter of fact I had no 5th gear when I first bought the car. My biggest fear was that it had a bad gearbox. So I did two things. I made sure good engine mounts were installed and I made sure to adjust the shift rod/ linkage with the proper tool. Then 5th gear was able to be selected. But Because of the worn out plastics, I would often miss 5th gear as it is a precise shift. Once the short shift kit was installed, it kind of hard to miss. In fact there is now a satifying click when 5th gear is selected now. Make sure the shift coupling on the shift rod is in good shape too. This thing causes all kinds of issues.

You can also try adjusting the pin to 21mm. If you can get the car into reverse without lifting the lockout collar, then the lockout pin is too short

So this shifter from Jordan Pagano's Modern Classic Saab has a shorter thow. Essentially it is a short shifter for the classic 900 SAABs. It remedies the shifter assembly slop problem with older classic 900s that used the nylon ball shifters. It reduces shift lever throw movement and makes shifting feel 100% more positive and precise.
