The sound, the smell, the look of nitro is tough to beat! More work than electric but worth it for a bird or two.

I used to play with nitro cars and planes over 20 years ago we would lean them until you heard the engine drop off then set it a few clicks before that, so helicopters are run a little rich probably cause they have to work so much harder, as a noob this model would scare myself and everyone around me.

On mine I put a T piece in between the tank and the check valve, and used a short piece of tubing with a bung to let the tank vent for fueling, it's better than taking the line off the check valve.

no header tanks anymore?!?! I'm just getting back into RC flying and always used a header tank to keep the fuel delivery consistent. Have one on the Raptor 60 I jsut got at a swap meet, but realizing a lot has changed in 15 years lol. Upgrading soon, just need to figure out which one to buy...I like the look of the Tron 700

The old raptor does not have a pressurized fuel tank from that era. Now days the Os engines have pressurized fuel tanks that are a fuel line with a one way valve connected to the back of the motor for crankshaft pressure. It keeps fuel pissing out that fuel tube consistent. From there it hits a one way diaphragm and then a high and a medium needle. The new engines are really dependable. The trick is to always see smoke and listen to it. If it’s not smoking it’s hot. If it’s tinging it’s lean. If it’s ripping it’s right. Have fun.

@@CoeShow619 Makes sense, thanks for the detailed reply! Now that you mention it, I remember the YS engine in my Robbe Millenium 90 required a check valve for the same reason and had to let the air out after a flight. Flybars are gone and so are header tanks lol

Nice heli Justin! Keep nitro alive! Question not about this awesome video but your the guy a want to ask. Have you run the FC6250 in a Blade 480 fusion stretched and is it descent. I'm a self proclaimed intermediate 3D pilot.

It’s fine if you no how to PID tune. It has no baseline, so it’s all on feel and your own judgement. It can fly in 15 minutes, but to tune it perfect takes hours and hours. I can always get it to fly pretty good, but I personally fly the ikon2 due to the easy set up, simple tuning, computer program, and ultra locked in feel with an internal governor. It’s all if you can tell the difference though.

I start at 2 turns out on low and 2 turns out on high. I use a Botos Powertune pipe so it eats fuel. All engines are different. Listen to it, and watch for smoke all the time. No smoke, no good. Gurgle, no good. Ting ting ting. No good. Make it sound the same tone all through our flight. Watch a Tim Jones tuning video.

My heli rotar spins as soon as I start the engine with a starter rod. What's wrong with it? Throttle is down all the way. Any help would be much appreciated

@@shahidrahman2018 sounds like your clutch is sprung open and is engaged. Take the engine out of the helicopter and service the clutch

Please advise me on how to setup Ikon 2 nitro bailout and Governor on a Raw 700 OS105 spektrum sensor. I’ve only flew heli twice without Governor, bailout worked perfectly. Curves 60 75 90. Plenty of headspeed. Setup governor, curves 49 74 85 it has Slow throttle SERVO movement on second two flight modes which I've enabled Governor. So now my bailout have slow recovery back to full speed. Had my first flight with my spektrum dx9 raw 700 OS105 nitro ikon Governor switched on. Couldn't get out of a hover due to serious throttle pulsing. Flicked back into bank/setup 1, Governor pulsing went away. Switched Governor off on all 3 banks. No pulsing and bailout works perfectly again. Also still have no idea how to setup bailout on ikon with Governor. 49 curve is VERY slow speed , sluggish. Tried the advanced Governor menu, selected bailout and the ramp up timing etc, Also changed Ikon 2 unit thinking it may have been a malfunction in the unit, no change. I run ikon on 6 of my 10 goblins (Other 4 are BEAST X) and 4 ikons for my other helis (others are Beast x). All electric. Never used ikon Governor due to using 6 tribunus's on my Goblins (others are castle) and mostly Align on my others. Never anything wrong with any esc Governors/bailout. I'm thinking I've done something wrong or missed something. I run Highend servos, esc's and motors on ALL Goblins, so it has to be software related on the 700 Nitro. I've bought over 9 ikon 2 recently off helidirect to change from beast x to ikon 2. Ikon is are great fbl, just can't figure out the Nitro Governor and bailout.

It’s wrong because your throttle endpoints are wrong and most likely 50% throttle is wrong. Ok, normal mode, and bank 1 work together. So normal mode is going to be 0,25.50.75.100 for now. Take servo horn off throttle servo. Also make sure bank 1 is not check marked for governor in the gain and agility menu in wizard. Now move throttle in normal mode and bank 1 to 50% throttle(half stick). Now with put your servo horn on at what ever angle it depicts in the manual, or 90 degrees with servo horn and the throttle horn. Look at the half throttle dash mark on throttle barrel. Make the linkage the length it takes to do that. Now I. The governor menu , look at the left side of the page on wizard. It states the endpoints should be pretty close to 1000 and 2000. So you adjust in bank 1 and normal mode only. Set those endpoints with the 0 throttle and full throttle hash marks on the throttle barrel. Now in stunt 1 throttle curve set to 65% on every box in radio. Now set stunt 2 to 85% in every box in there. This is the only throttle curve ikon uses. Read the left side of page. Now when you first run engine, you obviously have shut barrel to open barrel. So you add throttle trim to idle with the trim tab on radio. Give it 5 clicks and start the engine. This is how you tune for first couple times to get it transitioning throttle without Tareq headspeed. Click into stunt 1 and bank 2 at the same time. Bank 3 is for a different agility or roll rate or gain etc. Or all. I don’t use bail out. I hit hold. I’m old school. But you just click bailout for the switch you want to use and set throttle and pitch range. It works off what we just set up. That’s how it knows.

You can loosen the screw on throttle barrel to get it perfect 90 degrees and 50% throttle. Stick a small screw driver in that hole to hold it. Easy.

Great thank you. I'll give it a try. I'm pretty sure mechanically it is all good. My throttle trim doesn't work even though I've got it switched on. It moves on the dx9 but not the throttle SERVO. I'll give your other advise a go.

Please advise me what three headspeeds you select and what sensor you use. I can't remember what speeds I put (probably wrong) I use spektrum sensor.

@@haydengreen1707 ah man. Never had a Spektrum sensor actually work. The xguard sensor is my pick. Put the magnets on the fan. I use 1750 in first box. 1960 in second box and 2000 in 3rd box. Get the endpoints and 50% throttle correct before anything. That’s where the precision is that is necessary
