One day I will own that set of chisels! I have clones of them now (kaizo) and they are pretty good but they are not as good as this 500 dollar set, that’s for sure! Love this stuff Don, obviously, and I’m looking forward for the full comparison video!

Again, you hooked me up on trying something I never done before, bro: panel line scribing! I’ve been always “afraid” of trying because of the risk of ruining kits, but with the proper (and best) tools, things should be easier. Yes, SAB are pricy but it should be a one-time investment. Who knows, in a few months I’ll post a video of my scribing accomplishments 😂 thanks for a great hands on review. Very informative. I also liked the scribing contest with your daughter, Nico. Both are really good, different styles, so hard to say for me which is better….

Haha! The best way to practice is to re-scribe existing panel lines. Try that bro, and you will be amazed on how good the kit looks after re-scribing. ☺️🦾🦾🦾

I like them fat, but... it depends on the scale bro. .15, .2 and .3 would be suffice for most scribing jobs. ☺️

I've been looking into getting a set of panel scribes, off and on, for a while now... But I've gone back and forth over whether the investment would pay off in the results. Any thoughts about the relationship between cost and quality for someone just starting with this skill set? Is it worth it to throw a bit more money at a nicer set, or is it more like Kolinsky sable brushes, where the maintenance side of the equation becomes exceptionally relevant to results?

My recommendation, get SAB, but not the whole set ( yet ). Get the most used sizes first, like 2 to 3 panel liners ( .15, .2 and / or .3 ). Then if you need the occasional bigger size, use a cheapo brand first. You can slowly upgrade anyways. You will be collecting a ton of not so good stuff through the years if you start with the cheapo stuff. Trust me, I have been collecting tools since 2008 bro. My japanese brand tools are still fine. The cheapo alternatives are crap now. ☺️

if the chisel breaks when its too sharp, then its made of standard steal. as a tipp, if u know a watchman u could get better chisels made of widia (thats the name in germany, i dont know if this is international or not). i worked on hardened steel with it and it never broke on me. one chisel costed me 8€ and 2€ for a standard steel one

Panel scribing looks interesting. I wonder what someone can do with a simple, boring space marine? Or on a tank, maybe Tau? Tau got mechs, what if one of those got treated like a gunpla?
