I just retired my pair of 16oz Sabas Supersoft I had for about 2 years of use primarily on the heavy bag due to the left glove's padding inside ripping. The right glove probably has a bit more mileage left in it. Other than the foam ripping, the velcro still works, no stitches failed and no rips in the leather. Prior to the Sabas, I owned a pair of 16oz hook & loop Cleto Reyes and the same left glove actually ripped in the exact same way but only after about a year of use. Per your recommendation I got myself a pair of Ring to Cage gloves to test them out next. As a low income person, Winning isn't really an option. It was very hard for me to buy a pair of Reyes and even more disappointing they ripped as fast as they did. I just wanted to share my experience with Sabas gloves for those that maybe are watching this and having buyers remorse. If they haven't changed much in making these gloves over a two year time frame, I would say that I think they are perfectly fine glove and I respectfully disagree with how big a contrast you feel there is between the Ring to Cage gloves and Sabas as mentioned here and on your website where you highly rate the Ring to Cage version.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Jimmy. You're welcome to try the C17's for yourself and see how they hold up over time. No question for me, C17 are easily the better one.

@@expertboxing Hi again. I actually put the Sabas in a box and plan on coming back to them in maybe two years and doing a compare and contrast video or like a forum post on like Sherdog between them and the C17s. The C17s, in more than a few ways I do feel are superior to Sabas. But in other ways, like the stitching, while I don't think it'll rip, C17 isn't as close and precise as Sabas. So yeah, glad I kept them, many things that will make for a fun and hopefully informative future post for us poor mans boxing bros. Slightly off topic, thank you for all your content. When I first got into boxing and took lessons locally but your videos were the ones I would go back to for a second opinion and for more of a specific look at the fundamental punches. People that would ask me about boxing and showed interest in learning, I would usually tell them "There are a lot of great videos on youtube. I'd recommend a channel called Expert Boxing." So yeah, thanks man!

Want to share my experience also with the sabas, i own and currently still using my custom sabas pro series 14 oz gloves and i really do agree with all of you, my Sabas pro series gloves i bought with metallic colors,the metallic peels off easily, either because i used it for MMA/Kickboxing sparring or just a bad batch but overall you really get your money's worth with it same as your description, my left glove leather was ripped and now has a small hole near the finger compartment because i used it rigorously for bags,sparring,mitts like crazy lol, the point is i kinda agree that it is not really made in mexico because the color easily fades & the leather is not very mexicany but these gloves are really good for the price. i really want to get another pair of gloves with all the bad stuff happening currently in my pair. cheers!!

Thanks for the review man. I am always looking at the mainstream gloves but this makes me wanna check out the less known brands 😅 whats your favorite low key gloves?
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 4 жыл бұрын
You can read my boxing glove review guide for it. For all-around gloves, the Ring2Cage C17's. Necalli (formerly Casanova) are also a strong lowkey glove brand. GIL are super beautiful/stylish but not meant for styling. Di Nardo is well known but lowkey since many still don't know them. Super expensive though. All up to you. Read my boxing glove guide and see for yourself.

I've had my Sabas SS glove for a while now. I used extensively as bag gloves . I have the Everlast aqua bag and 85 lbs Nazo bag . They have held up. The finish have chipped but the padding have held up. They do have bubbles in the hitting area. But, they have held up. And the padding PROTECTS my knuckles much better than Reyes or the Sabas pro gloves . The wrist and palm padding are solid EVA foam. The Mexican gloves have cheaper wrist and palm padding . Sabas SS are not bad for the dollar at all . Btw, avoid Haymaker gloves. They are crap.

I know this is an old video and doubt you will see this but I picked up a pair of Winnings and love them for hand protection and comfort. But also wanted a pair of punchers gloves now that I hardened my hands. Specifically mexican style gloves since they have that slimmer profile and i'm really good at slipping my small arms through gaps so this would be a huge advantage. Which gloves have the lowest padding like Cleto Reyes original gloves. But are high quality and last long/comfortable i'm not sure if I want to order from them since there harder to get even from them. Espeically not as bad as Winnings Boxing shoes but not fun. And i've seen some saying there newer gloves have been inconsistent in durability of quality of make. Don't care about price and would prefer lace since of lace and loops. But I can work with Velcro got strong wrists.

@@expertboxing No so I'll give it a view over to see if anything catches my eye. Problem is I haven't found a glove people recommend in the Mexican style over Reyes. At least for the most part. And if I do there usually missing something that make the Reyes gloves good like the thin knuckle padding.

I bought a pair of the pro-series in 2016 for $99 and I still use them. A piece of the leather around the wrist cuff just ripped recently, but I did not take good care of them... (Left them still wet/sweaty in a gym bag in a hot car for days/weeks at a time). After a few years the leather seemed to dry out, become brittle, and crack a bit but they still felt great on the bag. Overall I would say they are very good gloves for the money. I will probably buy another pair if their prices haven't gone up too much.

i have many gloves, topboxer, torres medina, cleto, everlast, infintude, rival, sabas...so many more brands. I can personally say that the current sabas supersoft that they make are good quality gloves for the price tag, stay away from the pro series ones though, those are bad. Their bella series gloves are def the best ones, if you want to try sabas, get bella series.

Yeah, I’ll gladly re-review if I ever see an updated pair with better quality. But I’m definitely not going to pay money out of my own pocket when they publicly accused me of being a liar or demanding a freebie when I never did any of that. There’s a lot they should own up to. Man, you must have gotten a bad pair. I have 2 pairs of the Pro Series and they are great gloves!! As a matter of fact, I just reccomended Sabas gloves to 3 friends today. I'm substantially bigger than you and I've had zero issues with my Sabas' durability and unlike 99% of "Mexican" gloves they are spot on with weight not 2-3 ounces heavier than advertised.
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I totally got a bad pair. I think their quality is not consistent across all models. And you can see they've even acknowledged it below. Here's the thing...many companies make good and bad models but they clearly describe (perhaps subtlely) which ones are better. Sabas sells them like they're all amazing and that they're all made in Mexico when they're clearly not. Word on the street is the custom and limited edition ones are better. Glad you had a great experience. Maybe you like the weight being exact, I honestly don't mind Mexican gloves always coming in heavy. But yeah, some people really hate that. Hahaha.

Hi there , you should check out the "Sabas Prime Time" gloves they are just like Grant gloves 100% made in Mexico really nice top quality gloves . I get what you are saying about these Sabas gloves in your review but keep in mind that they are the "Sabas Super Soft " version , this is a glove deigned to be similar to the Winning sparing gloves so my point is that the Sabas Super Softs are a Japanese style glove not a Mexican glove . I have both Winning & Sabas Super Softs & they are not that dissimilar from each other in particular the leather is very similar . If you like Mexican gloves seriously check out the Sabas Prime range .
