Powerful Song (Based of true story!!!) by powerful band Sabaton... How they approach the history of war is unique. They don't glorify war, they don't choose sides, but they highlight the humanity of soldiers, the depth of their courage and sacrifice. They make you proud of soldiers of many nations, because you are proud of their humanity. And Sabaton use their music to tell their stories, so they are never forgotten. They show a respect and an understanding that is rare. It is a deep rabbit hole, but extremely rewarding, if you are open to those stories. “Lest We Forget”- is Sabaton’s mantra. They are not political but sing about sacrifices, heroics on mostly military history . AND ONE MORE THING... The end credit vocals was done by Hannes (Drummer, the tall blond guy and the man who came out of the trenches first) Wife and our Valkyrie Goddess herself, Floor Jansen !!!!! NWSU 🤘😎🤘.

Thank you for watching the video to the end. Imho this is Sabaton's masterpiece and as well as the band as all the people involved in making this heartbreaking little movie deserve all the praise there is! The music you hear during the credits is made by Antti Martikainen, an independent Finnish composer who makes mostly beautiful epic soundtracks and this one, combined with Floor's voice, fits perfectly. My favorite track by Antti is "Lord of Iron", electronic music with a Celtic vibe. Greetings! Btw...Sabaton have their own History Channel on YT with a lot of info about a lot of their songs!

Hello from Germany. Nice reaction. I remember my grandfather (who fought at the east front in WW2) once told me: Whenever someone starts telling you there's something heroic being in a war. Start running. Regarding the song that actually happened at the west front on Christmas Eve in WW1. They came together and celebrated Christmas. With love from Germany 😎 🤘🏻

It's not the soldiers who want this. It is the leaders of countries who decide to go to war. The soldiers are just puppets. And another thing. I don't think you realized that it was Floor Jansen who sang the outro at the end credits. She is of course the wife of Hannes!! (Sabaton's drummer).

Yes this song really tugs at the heartstrings. I still get goosebumps and tears in my eyes every time I watch this video. Thank you for speaking out against war. I do wish it could be that simple, listening to good music could putting an end to war. Important fact about this truce. After this happened, command had to relocate all the troops that were involved. Because indeed you can not shoot a friend! It was the Pope of that time that had asked for a truce, that was denied by the leaders. Still at a lot of places along the front soldiers stopped fighting and met in no mans land to celebrate Crhistmas.

Both the song and the video are epic masterpieces of art. Joakim and Par started writing this song in 2006 and continued to work on it until they felt it was perfect. According to Joakim, it is actually composed as a waltz. They employed an actual movie film crew for this video and as you can see from the credits spared little expense in making it. Sabaton has the unique ability to capture moments of heroism, sacrifice, and honor in the chaos of war while reaching into your soul. True Warriors recognize that their foes are the same as them, fighting for what they believe in just as they are. The cross at the end is a replica of the cross outside of Ypres marking the location of one of the truces. Great reaction, keep rocking Sabaton.

The sgrandson or great grandson of the Hannes soldier carved his date on a cross thactvwas erected to recall the su ite where that Belgian battle was paused. Noted: Floor Jansen, the singer wife of the Sabaton drummer, vocalized the soprano part in the end credits. She is chiefly with Nightwish as lead vocalist.
@elvwood

This one almost always gets me crying, sometimes twice (when Hannes is stepping out of the trench and when Pär is carving the cross). The modern date on the cross is significant to me because there has been no year since "the War to End All Wars" when my country has not sent soldiers abroad to fight in war. "Lest we forget" is from Kipling's poem _Recessional,_ written for Queen Victoria's Jubilee but unusually telling how all empires come to dust in the end. It could be Sabaton's mission statement - how can we learn from history if we do not remember it? I am keeping my fingers crossed because all being well I will be seeing Sabaton (and Babymetal) live for the first time in April...

To think about all these men had to go through. Then to come home and deal with the Spanish flu. My great grandfather was a major in the German Army in WW1. He lived long enough for me to know him. This really happened but the world leaders won't acknowledge it guess why. The soldiers was threatened the next year so they wouldn't repeat it. You can't see the enemy as a brother. He should be a monster to kill. Some soldiers had to be relocated after this day because they refused to kill their new friends. 1915 some try to do this again but it wasn't a success as 1914. 🤓🇸🇪

A lot of those soldiers also were the first reinforcements, pulled in and sent to the front just a little after the war had started. The most "enthusiasic" ones were already gone. And they were _promised_ that they'd of course all be home on Christmas. But then the war dragged on for a month, two, three... December came, and they were all stick stuck in those wet, cold, muddy trenches, with their friends dying around them. Broken promises by the very people they had trusted enough to go to war for...

I think stories like this, like the Franz Stigler & Charlie Brown incident(covered in "No Bullets Fly"), and like the field hospital in Angoville-au-Plain... show a much overlooked side of humanity. Everyone likes to rag on how awful we can be to each other, and a quick glance through history is sure to turn up some real monsters and atrocities... But there's also heroes. There's a side to us that really just wants to be kind and friendly to each other - to help out as best we can when needed, even if it's someone we don't have any personal attachment to - to save the lives of friend and foe alike because it's the right thing to do. That's worth talking about too, if only to encourage more heroes in the future.

I will also give you a recommendation for another song from Sabaton. It is the live version from Gothenburg on "En livstid i krig" (A lifetime in war). It is about how it was to be born, raised and die in the 30 year war in Europe during the 1600's. Fathers and sons could fight side by side and many never ever had the opportunity to experience peace during that long time in war. It is in Swedish so be sure to put on the subtitles. Another strong, beautiful and important song from this great band.

Might want to check our Yarnhubs videos. Not just the collaboration with Sabaton. The sad things there has been at least 2 wars I am aware of where people thought the war would be quick and over by Christmas. That being said. The tech out paced the tactics. It amazes me nothing thought that throwing men at each other was a waste of life and didn't adjust the tactics.

Probably the most powerfull song I've ever heard! And the message is very clear and simple. Everyone suffers in the war, no matter the side, we are all normal people, we all hurt, we all bleed, we can all rejoice. This, for me, is an ultimate anti-war song. And, to be completely honest, history, more precisely, historians, have bëcame whores of politics and religions. Everybody has his own agenda and 'historians' follow it. What Sabaton do is precious. They tell stories, without bias, without connotations. Deep respect!

I think now that you've done this song, it's a good time to ease into Tommy Johansson's covers (Sabaton's guitarist). He did his own version of this song over his December Advent Calendar of videos, fully mixed and performed himself. I know Christmas is passed but it's still worth looking at and using it as a stepping stone to the rest of his 60-ish covers so far. it's quite different but equally magnificent. And just keep in mind, if you do watch it.. He's barely warming up his true vocal ability. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4q0pqZnnKmco6s

It is a hard fact that we all have the same basic brains as reptiles. The dufferences with us us tge higher brain/ mind works out how much more efficiently we may go about stealing from and killing each other. That very basic animal brain is necessary to keep us alive. The down side is that we animals, and too often, go after others. The Norse legends show this as real humanoids going from human like to being dragons. Refer to Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy. In Battle Of The Five Armies, it was said that Thorin Oakenshield fell into dragon fever. While a dwarf king, he became a dragon, in his mind. The gold ruled him. It took deep thought to make him be warrior king, again, fight to save his people, and redeem himself. He fought greatly, and, with two of his kensmen, died to reclaim his kingdom and allow rebuilding of the cities in his realm. Dain Ironfoot s ucceeded him, and ruled under the mountain, in strength and justice.

Nice reaction to a powerful song with a powerful message. You say set aside differences so there will be no war. Differences aren't the problem, polarization is the big problem. For a long time *this* was the final time there was something approaching an unified "European cultural" identity. In '14, still in way at the outset of the Apocalypse of the Old World, there was still a perception of this beeing a contest among members of essentially the same culture, the differences being a matter of Realpolitik, not ideology. It took two World Wars, a horrible unstable "non-peace" in the interbellum, several bloody smaller wars and the great European project (which I love yes, but I'm aware that it's essentially a Grand Alliance of Former empires) to finally get back to level of cultural unity that was in existence in "Europe's Last Summer" in '14. Not exactly reassuring that we now are once more in an Age of opposing Grand European and trans-Atlantic alliances fighting an ever escalating proxy-war on the bloody fields of Ukraine. It's disturbingly like the Old World in '14, no ideological struggle but a war based on perception of threat and the cynical (mis-) calculations of another "Great Game" the Powers play about influence, economy and power-projection... Great reaction. Greetings from Germany. I would like to know what you would think about the German song "Nein, meine Söhne geb ich nicht" from Reinhard Mey und Freund. The original got English sub-titles.

@@frontrowchaos4597 Reinhard Mey (the guy in the leather jacked) is a well known in Germany. The song is very pacifistic and controversal. Reinhard Mey grew up during the postwar times.

Apparently the Germans had a fir tree and were singing Christmas carols and the British stopped and they joined in the celebration. That alone was amazing in itself.

🤩👌💥💯🎼 To say we're all brothers Now couldn't be far from truth. Every one just take a peek and the truth is easy to see. Since WWII there's been one nation which has put out their agenda to keep military industry rolling with the sake of other's lives. And that is hilarious, yet a cool thing in a sense, to put a museum of THE GREAT WAR in Nashville, TN. 😆. Like setting a museum about Amurican Independence War in Tallinn, Estonia!!! ✌️😹 People in States really are something else. Why wouldn't set museums of their own history on sight and the nation might learn something from the past??? Since the education in there is focused to "dumbing down the America". (don't know which America, South, North or Central one?) 🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙

We already have our own museums of our past. We are all indeed brothers WAR will never change that. The fact of the matter is there are real nut jobs in charge of other countries that want to start wars. I hope one day it will not be that way but it is.
