Thats what I like about World War 2. Its one of the greatest times in human history. It showed the absolute worst parts of humanity. How sick, sadistic and monstrous humanity can be. It showed that there is true, unfathomable evil in this world. We saw how an entire people can fall into madness. Then we saw the opposite. It showed the absolute best in humanity. Courage, honor, human decency. It showed how there are people willing to do the right thing even when everyone else is wrong (Schindler, August Landmesser). How people are willing to fight back (French and Polish resistances and all other resistance forces). How people will show compassion and respect and be willing to help others at the risk of their own lives.

Blood Raven concerning your first point: it is not verifiable that the UdSSR was about to attack Germany. Due to Stalin´s political purges in the Red Army it was not able to attack a military prosperous country like the Reich. The best evidence for that is the "Talvisota", the winter war against Finland in 1939/1940, where the badly equipped and trained soldiers (and tanks) of the Red Army fell victim to motti-tactics and molotov-cocktails. Of course Stalin knew that there would be a conflict between two ideologically that different countries and the contract with Hitler in 1939 is to interpret as a time-gaining step in order to reinforce the Red Army and prepare it for a war. This is why Stalin himself was so heavily surprised and unable to react until 3rd July 1941 when "Operation Barbarossa" began on 22nd June. I hope i was able to make u somehow sensible for your statements and comments, because you (all) should not draw conclusions from historical events you are not completely informed about! Fare well and stay interested... ;)

I'm sorry, but India had sent a medical unit, the 60th Para Field Ambulance, to render assistance to those injured in the war. The unit consisted of 346 personnel and served in the Korean theater for three and a half years. It provided assistance to 200,000 wounded and carried out 2,300 field surgeries. Later, as fighting was subsiding in 1953, India sent 6,000 soldiers to form the Custodian Force India (CFI), which was tasked with looking after prisoners of war (POWs) and resolving the issue of their repatriation.

The Peacekeepers also can’t just go anywhere. A country has to make a formal request for them to be deployed, and the Security Council can refuse that request for any reason. IIRC, they also have a “pull” system for logistics, meaning that things like ammo, food, and weapons aren’t automatically supplied like a normal military. They have to be requested.

Showed this song once to my boss (who was one time a UN soldier for Sweden in the Yugoslav Wars and joined the french foreign legion after his time in the swedish army.) and he was moved. His eyed got a little bit watered when hering the lyrics and think back when he served as a UN soldier. He would not talk so mutch aboth his time in the army. But once say that serving in the army was the best and worst time in his life. Best for the life experince, commradship and all the friends he have the honnor to know and served with. Worst when seeing all the shit and how crazy and evil people can get in war. And ofc all of his friends that did not make it and how war can change people in a bad way. Don't know how it change him (diden't ask most of respect to him) but you could se in his eye when peopled asked him how it was in the battlefield. That he must have seen some fuckt upt shit in his day. Still have mutch respect to the man. Even if i hate war and think it's the most stupid and unhonnered think to do in the world. But all the soldier need love, understadning and respect from all of us. They put themself voluntary in danger to fight the enemy, help people in war and peacetime and to make a diffrent. For they do this job even when them self have friends and family that they care, love and respect them. Even when they have a lot to lose they still do there duty. and that's what i call honor! risking there life to save people.

And now that I think about it, the UN has one thing written in stone. Most people are only focused on the civilians killed by US and other UN Forces during the 1950-53 Korea (Hot) War. They overlook what the DPRK and PRC did to civilians, because that was expected of 'dirty, but good little Communists.' So let me set this record straight: During the massive Chinese Counterattack that lead to the heavy fighting around the Chousin Reservoir forcing a UN withdrawal, many tens of thousands of North Korean civilians were killed or 'relocated' by the advancing PLA or People's Liberation Army. Learning of this and seeing many fall in with them, the UN Forces withdrawing turned around and drew defense lines. The PLA slammed into these lines defending the only port left in UN hands near Chousin, North Korea. The forces were largely the USMC and US Army backed by the US Navy and USAF. They were evacuating themselves by ship to safety, but chose to turn about and stubbornly hold the approaches. Somewhere around 100,000 North Koreas were safely evacuated to South Korea and since then, some several million South Koreans can trace their lineage to those refugees. Shortly after the last Korean was aboard ship, the UN Forces withdrew, destroyed the port, and left the area. THAT ladies and gentlemen is a fact purposely overlooked by those seeking only to always find fault with how the US conducted its wars. It is one of dozens upon dozens of overlooked cases so only those used to vilify soldiers from many different countries is made available. The men who stopped and fought should get a Nobel Peace Prize for standing their ground as civilians were whisked to safety and freedom.
@FLJBeliever177611 жыл бұрын
***** It was democratic from the start. It just had a lot of hiccupping as people were trying to get used to the fact that they could speak and keep their lives. That said, the government of South Korea at the start was hiccupping itself as it tried not to kill those questioning it. It didn't help that a Communist Revolt actually broke out prior to the War and things went to hell fast before it ended and again when the War broke out. You have to remember, they used to be under Japanese control. Heck, there were three uniforms in the ROKA at the start of the Korean War: American Korean (which could be anything) Japanese Once the Fighting ended, things began to change. Unfortunately, it was a bit before the ROK was really on the move to being democratic. But today, it is one of the leading democracies in the world and I couldn't be happier that we helped it along, problems and all at the start to success at the end. Though true success and mission complete will be when the ROK's border is rubbing the PRC and showing the joys of Democracy so directly.

[Cyber Leader: "We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?"] Dalek Sec: "Four." I served as Blue Helmet for the UN, Argentina's Regiment Task Force, went 2 times to Haiti and 1 to Ciprus, seen many injustices and stuff that would drive anyone mad in rage, but, it is kinda funny how those stuff just helps motivate yourself to do your best for the behalf of the people, it is hard to explain, would do it again but already hanged my uniform, all that remembers is the experience and anecdotes.

I haven't had much good opinions of the Blue Helmets. I've heard a few awful tales about them, and the UN has been rather inneffectual in modern times, paralyzed by its member nations conflicting interests. Nevertheless, this song and all the stories in the comments have given me some respect for them, and I plan to look into them more thoroughly some time.

@cutelittledrunk82316 жыл бұрын
Id have to say that the most bad ass UN Unit was an Irish unit that was sent to Jadotville. They fought to the last round, and when the bullets were gone, they used the casings to make shrapnel bombs. Yes they surrender, but what were they supposed to do? Fight off a foe that has them literally out gunned and very much out numbered? I dont think a single one of them died from the siege.

For all of you who are with UN and other armies, but still thinks that the French army is a joke (I know some of you are in there) Look that up "The last French Bayonet Charge" Spoiler: It happened in Yugoslavia. The Battle of Vrbanja Bridge. And sorry if that look a bit mean/too much patriotic but I'm kind of pissed with how much the french Army is getting disrespected

The french army only gets disrespected because of ww2 and their failures in ww1. But people never look at the many examples of how the French army is one of the best in the world and always has been.
