And people say Sabaton glorify war... obviously those people have never actually listened to Sabaton. Sabaton celebrate the tenacity and bravery of humans but also shows the horrors of war.

Audie Murphy wrote a book called "To Hell and Back", he became a movie star and acted in a movie about himself also called "To Hell and Back" (the old movie footage in this music video is from that). He also did westerns. And wrote poetry, some of the lyrics are from a poem "The Crosses Grow on Anzio". His son apparently likes the song. He has met the band and thanked them personally and gave them a original movie poster for the "To Hell and Back" movie. This one is a audience and band favorite in live shows. They have used it as the last song pretty often in recent years. In a live show it has the feeling of celebration. There is a lot of jumping and clapping involved and it's really nice moment with a crowd.

As an Army vet this really speaks to me the amount of times I sat in the dark by myself then being woken up in the middle of the night due to Nightmares one thing I'll never forget is the sight & smell of it all

Oh, gather 'round me, comrades, and listen while I speak; Of a war, a war, a war - where hell is six feet deep. Along the shore, the cannons roar. Oh how can a soldier sleep? The going's slow on Anzio and hell is six feet deep. Praise be to God for this captured sod that’s rich where blood does seep; With yours and mine, like butchered swine; and hell is six feet deep. That death does wait there's no debate; no triumph will we reap The crosses grow on Anzio, where hell is six feet deep. ~Audie Murphy (age 19)

Sabaton ( after Nightwish) is my favorite band because of their mantra, “Lest We Forget” I would suggest Night Witches or No Bullets Fly both the animated Story versions. Saboton has combined their Sabaton History Utube channel along with a music video. Your wife caught the fact that like Nightwish you need to go all the way to the end of their videos. It is especially important on, No Bullets Fly. Great job as always give the pups a pat for me! Rock On Stay Safe!🙏👍🐶🤘

If you want another beautiful song from a soldier's perspective, try En Livstid i Krig, it's in Swedish so you'll need to turn the captions on. Btw, Crosses Grow on Anzio is a poem written by Audie Murphy himself

Or Lifetime of war the same on English kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpyliaWbo7ebhrM

@@agony87winter51 it's not the same, the perspective of the song is different in English, less personal and more about the general effects od 30 years war. Swedish version is much more emotional, but it would be good idea to react to both versions

There was a nod to Audie's westerns during the bridge. I echo earlier comments where his son liked it as it was not a parrot of western themes but a rock song and it certainly is a crowd favorite no matter where it is played.

Always look to the very end on the Sabaton videos to not miss any info! Please also react to ”The Lion from the North”, ”A caroleans prayer” and ”Poltava” from the Carolus Rex album. Thanks for a good reaction 😊

the 1 thing they got wrong in the video is the pistol (they use a Glock) in real life he always had his 1911a1 pistol even when he was filming movies he had it with him. The song covers just his time in Italy and his poem he wrote . deff do the Sabaton History esp. on it. now that you did this song about the most decorated WW2 u.s.soldier you have to do "82nd all the way" about another MOH in WW1 SGT. I've read the book and I really like the movie To hell and back. Audie wrote a poem Roses grow on Anizo. You should watch their HISTORY CHANNEL about this song.
