The guitar player on the left is Tommy Johansson. I highly recommend you check out his covers of The Winner Takes It All and She's Gone. His voice is phenomenal! Hi, from Germany.

The singer Joakim "hates" this song and always tries to avoid it at gigs 🤣 Both stages at the same time is just awesome! I wish I could have been there!
@nocturne73712 ай бұрын
It's a "thing" that the band and audience have to coax Joakim into singing this song. This is one of the songs that they almost always play at their concerts because the audience is waiting for it and prompting it. I don'y know if Joakin really dislikes this song, but I guess he prefers other songs. Tina had never met the band before this, but the song was chosen before the show so she had time to learn it back home in the US.
@Clouded_Reactions2 ай бұрын
If he doesn't like the song then he sure can hide it because his performance says otherwise 😂 Wow, I bet they LOVED the fact that she chose that song! Did she choose it beforehand and learn it? Or was it pre chosen by someone else and she had to learn it before the show? Either way, I'm glad the rock gods chose it to be this way! Cheers!!

@@Clouded_Reactions My guess is that Sabaton wanted her first time with them on stage to be a great one. They know that just playing that initial riff will get the crowd wild so they chose to give that to her to experience. They seem to have gotten along great considering that she collaborated with them years later on the song Steel Commanders, she also did the outro to the song 1916. There are some great compilations online of Joakim "jokingly" having a beef with the band over playing this song. But I have also heard him in an interview that they would "not get out alive" if they refuse to play this song. He has also said that this is the bonus song that he threw togher in 30 min just to have a song on the bonus album and that very little thought went into it. So not a song he's very proud of probably. But IMO if you write a riff like that you have yourself to blame.

Pagan comes from the Latin word "paganus" which means "villager, rustic; civilian, non-combatant" and was used in late antiquity where Christianity was seen as urban and the rural folks were seen as more conservative and holding to the old ways. Pagan just means non-Christian and the Vikings were pagans to the Anglo-saxons and others who had been Christianised from the seventh century onward. BTW Thor, Valhalla and Asgard are part of Norse mythology and you use the names of some norse gods and goddesses Tuesday - the day of Tiw (the god of single combat) Wednesday - Woden's day (Woden, Wotan, Odin a god with many variants of his name) Thursday - Thor's day (Thor is the god of thunder) Friday - Frig's day - she was the Goddess of marriage and the home Interestingly membership of the Churches of Sweden, Denmark and Norway are surprisingly high though belief in God is not very high The Churches provide a cultural and social role in society as they are state churches and are very liberal by European standards and especially American standards. The Cathedral of Uppsala hosted an exhibition called "Ecce Homo" where a photographer used modern people to represent scenes from the Gospel narratives. The artist is Elizabeth Ohlson Wallin and her work stimulates debate even now. Wacken Festival is 85 000 people and is held in a village in the north of Germany. The local church has a special service when the folk metal musicians play medieval music It is an important metal event though not the largest in Europe.

Membership is high in Sweden because until 1995 children were automatically enrolled when born.
@johncrwarner2 ай бұрын
@@helmaschine1885 Finland, Norway and Denmark all had automatic memberships too they have all abolished them but either the Nordics are too lazy or I suspect have a lingering nostaglia for the church so they keep their membership. Joakim has referenced that the choral parts in Sabaton songs are influenced by Lutheran choral singing which he must have encountered growing up.

Greek lol.... Valhalla awaits! xD I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like in those viking ships, sailing across the ocean....... Also... Women during the viking age had quite some big responsibilities and power in society. It wasn't until christianity came that women lost all rights. That says a lot. Something to be remembered, so that we know our roots were at least fighting for equality. Maybe that is why it is more equal here in the nordic countries... Even though the pay is still fucked up between women and male...... Love this song ^^ And you picked the perfect live show, where several of the old band members joined them on the stages. New and old, playing together. Plus the amazing Tina ^^

I've heard that the Woodstock festival in Poland, which this is recorded at. So is the audience of over a million. Then if you had looked carefully you would have discovered that Sabaton played on 2 stages, the first with the current Band members and the second stage played former band members. As well as noticed how they cut in that they were 2 different drummers, one on each stage and then guitarists. I hadn't noticed this either because a Joakim mentioned this to a KZbinr who interviewed him here on KZbin.
