@@TV_Man4572 I'd like them to make an album dedicated to how animals were used in warfare, and one song idea is Olga of Kyiv using sparrows and pigeons as incendiary bombs to end a siege against the Drevlians, the tribe that murdered her husband. Other ideas include: - Carthaginian war elephants used against the Roman legions during the Punic Wars (or focus on Hannibal in particular) - Olga of Kyiv (as described above) - The horses upon which Genghis Khan's horde thundered across the steppes (possible collab with The Hu?) - Cher Ami, the WW1 messenger pigeon who helped save the Lost Battalion from friendly artillery fire despite being shot, blinded in one eye, and a leg hanging on by a tendon (or just messenger pigeons in general) - Wojtek, a Syrian brown bear adopted by a Polish unit fighting for the Red Army during WW2 - Unsinkable Sam, a cat rescued from the sunk Bismarck by the British, only to survive two more ships being sunk. - The experiments using animals in peculiar ways, such as training pigeons to peck at a silhouette of a ship so they can be used to guide torpedoes, or bats being fitted with incendiary harnesses to be used as firebombs against the Japanese (during one experiment, some bats escaped with their harnesses and set fire to the air base) - The detection dogs used to help sniff out mines and IEDs - And finally, a tribute to all the service animals that help our returning veterans better cope with their traumatic experiences. And I'm sure Sabaton can find many more examples, but it just strikes me how animals have slowly gone from being on the front lines to more rearguard or home duties, from being more or less disposable to becoming as cherished as any other soldier in the unit.

I still think “Carolus Rex” is hell of an underrated album. Being born in Russia, our history of wars with Sweden in our past (especially when Peter the Great changed the perception of these conflicts) is taught quite well, so it was so good to hear a lot about the life of one of the greatest kings in Europe and his military wins and losses from a different perspective - from a Swedish group. And out of all the songs on this conceptual masterpiece we are met by this banger. Just wow.

This guy was such an ahead-of-his-time badass, military-tactics he pioneered are still in use centuries after artillery-fire cut him down. He died as he lived... roaring defiantly at the enemies of his fair and lofty land and meeting them head-on on the field of battle. "The Lion From The North" indeed... kings who don't lead from the front-lines of combat don't tend to remain kings for long, and that was a truth Gustavus II Adolphus lived.

The Swedish version contains the two lines: Legenden har spått; gult och blått Legenden den löd; örnens död This translates roughly to: "The legend foretells; yellow and blue" (reference to flag colour). As well as "The legend it said; the eagle's death". (Reference to coat of arms). Glad you like it. :)

Gustavus Adolphus was the Swedish King that mainstreamed the military tactics of gunpowder aligned weapons and warfare. He was killed in Battle of Lützen. The opposition Commander Albrecht von Wallenstein learned of the tactics of Gustavus and copied the unit formations of Gustavus before the Battle of Lützen. The innovator was killed by his own invention. The era of the sword and pike ended in Europe, the era of the pistol and musket began.
