I remember a Saber-something that was paired off with the Power Rangers, but that was a live action show. And, there was the short lived, under rated Cyber 9.

No, since Saber Rider is written in America and only animated in Japan, its a cartoon. Like Voltron, Transformers, Robotech, etc, which are all owned by American companies now.

Saber Rider was actually an anime series in Japan called Star Musketeer Bismark, which was imported, edited and re-scripted. Out of the three you mentioned, Transformers was the only show that was written in America and animated in Japan. Robotech was originally three different shows mashed together (Macross, Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada) and Voltron was originally Go Lion and Dairugger 15 mashed together.

Danny Jingu I guess our opinions are different. The US versions can't really be considered anime because they were written in the US with no connection to their anime counterparts. They also weren't sold off as being distinctly anime either and are things only seen in America, the exception being Transformers since its an American/Japanese co-production, whereas Voltron and Saber Rider are owned by Dreamworks now with their original anime versions just being history now.

Most of those themes were written by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy, the guys who made Power Rangers. Its not the case of Saber Rider who got new OST from Dale Schacker.

This is my childhood, i loved it every second because those cartoons inspired me to become a better person. Saber Rider, Galaxy Rangers, Silverhawks, Bravestarr, Thundercats.. those were inspiring cartoons not like the ones nowadays that get pumped in our children. Saber Rider is a different show, made by chopping up Seijushi Bismark. Seijushi Bismark was the much better show in many ways, for a much older child audience. "Call Me" was a great theme song... but cannot touch the Saber Rider theme.

The main character is the japanese guy Shinji "Fireball" Hikari, not that British dude Saber Rider, which in the original anime is named Richard Lancelot. The cowboy is originally named Wild Bill, not Colt. Also, the girl is French, not American, and her name is Marianne Louvre, not April Eagle. Marianne is actually the fiancee and later wife of Shinji. In the anime, they got married.
