My local metalcore band opened for OAA and LMTF last November. My drummer and I basically fangirled when we got to meet Chris. He was in the back rehearsing for this video. Super down to earth dude. It was an honor getting to share the stage with him. And yes, he called me “mate” 😍

Truly a great WRITER as well as a drum PLAYER. His words at the beginning are no joke. In the way he plays, you can tell he wrote these parts and practiced them - and knows them note for note.
@orangedrone6 жыл бұрын
Which you can do without writing it first. Writing isn’t the secret ingredient to good drumming. He only thinks it is cause, he learned that first. So he associates that with his insane talent. Reality is he’d still be an amazing drummer had he never learned how to write drum music.
@SDREHXC5 жыл бұрын
orangedrone I’m pretty sure being able to write extraordinarily complex drum parts as well as play them makes him a more exceptional drummer than just being able to play them. I don’t even know how you could argue the opposite, that’s actually asinine. Like, a chef who copies other recipes very well is still a good chef, but a chef who makes exceptional recipes on their own is more impressive. How is a musician any different?
@joshrobledo94 Жыл бұрын
@@orangedroneWhat’s with all the resistance? It always comes off as extremely resentful and bitter. Kind of reminds me a Charles Bukowski outlook on music honestly. I’m glad technical players have the spotlight. I hope it keeps going that way.
@orangedrone Жыл бұрын
@@SDREHXC That’s not what I meant. You can still “write” (create original music) without first writing out the music. It’s cool to write out the music after the fact as a way to document it, or so others can learn it. All I was trying to say was writing it out first is not a secret ingredient or cheat code to writing amazing drum parts. That’s all.

Loved the editing/stylizing of this video, the cuts were fine until he actually started playing. Too fast to be cut at that same pace the whole time, but too slow to give that "chaotic" effect. I would leave the cuts nice and slow while he's playing and maybe throw in some quick jump cuts when the playing gets more chaotic, but use it tastefully! Great video guys!!
