That river is fed by snow melt in the spring, but can be treacherous in the summer during monsoon season. Most folks don’t realize there is a ski run at Mt Lemon high up on the mountain range. It wasn’t unusual to get more than 24” accumulation of snow. Sadly up the canyon was a popular party location for students attending the UofA. Litter became a issue and I believe access was restricted, things clearly have changed, the last time there it was 1983. I live in the PNW now, it was refreshing to see large saguaros again, stark contrast to 200’ Douglas Firs. Thank you for posting.
