“There’s just not much to it” doesn’t seem like a flaw as much as a design philosophy. It’s intentionally minimalist. There have been games like this for awhile- Ico, Journey, etc.

A few hours into this game. My biggest grief with this is the frame stutters and outlandish frame rate drops. Came up on a jungle and the frame rate dropped to every tenth frame. Janky camera is a near constant issue too. These bugs cannot be ok even with indie developers.

Sable doesn't look like it has much game play at all though... Versus Death Stranding that has a lot of things to do and multiple ways to do them. People love to joke DS is a Walking Simulator, but it actually is because you need to balance Sam's weight, how much he carries, his grip, etc. Sable just looks bare bones possibly due to budget constraints?

Looks more like Outer Wilds to me. Story based mesmerising game that is enjoyable to explore. Death Stranding is hours of cut scenes followed by irritating plodding up hills.

Moebius is awesome and so many games and artwork is based off of his work from Arzack and The Airtight Garage. The game Panzer Dragoon is an example. Even the show Adventure Time has some hidden shout outs to his work.

Maybe it's because I'm playing with the latest updates, but I'm not experiencing any breaking bugs or glitches at all. The camera is indeed a pain sometimes, but not in a way that it impacts my experience. I'm 9 hours in and it's a blast so far. Note for any game designer: open world don't need 200 hours of fetch content, sometimes (most times) less is more, as A Short Hike already proofed.

@@discojoe3 Sable has the most stuttering I've ever experienced in a video-game, especially on the bike. It's so bad. PlayStation and Xbox genuinely shouldn't have allowed the game on their storefronts. Even loads of people on Steam still have issues. The way the game streams in assets is a disaster. It makes Cyberpunk on the base PS4 at launch look like a respectable product. I'm not being hyperbolic, it's that bad.

The stuttering in Sable is the worst I've ever experienced in a video-game (especially on the bike) and it's still messed up on every platform to this day. Those lazy GTA remasters work at least.

Shadow of the Colossus wasn't the first game to have a climbing mechanic with stamina either. It's just that BotW massively popularized the concept as a means of traversal for open world games.

It’s very obviously inspired by breath of the wild, and it’s not just to keep you out of bounds, the limits on stamina guide how you have to climb in bounds as well, otherwise you’d be able to beeline to the top of everything and ignore any of the platforming

IGN's reviewer need some consistency in discussing technical issues. I'm glad this reviewer discusses bugs and performance issues here. Strange that no discussion of performance issues were brought up in the Cyberpunk and Deathloop reviews at all

The cyberpunk version they were given was the pc version so they didn't experience as much bugs (which they still mentioned). Also sometimes not everyone experiences bugs while playing. You can't expect the reviewer to talk about bugs he didn't experience.

Also, they were not allowed to use their own recorded footage because of that fact, they had to use the "approved footage of the publishers" to review and show gameplay of Cyberpunk. It's heavily suggested that they are very biased with their scores depending who publishes the games and how much influential force they hold with their names... that or lots and lots of money will do the trick. Just look at all the advertising.

meh, it wasn't the first either. also, in SotC you could only climb certain things whereas BOTW you could climb anything. finally, Zelda is what popularized it. (for the record, I've played Shadow of the Colossus 4 times and Breath of the Wild is still at zero.)
