Some adapters from other manufacturers come with a 10-20 watt AC adapter, allowing you to use 3.5 inch drives and 5.25 inch optical drives as well.

Don't mean to nitpick but there's something that might confuse people watching this. Lon says that it's a 6 Gbps USB bridge which is USB 3.1 gen 1, more specifically UASP which is like a "turbo" mode let's call it like that. Later in the video he says it's USB 3.1 gen 2. I just looked up Sabrent's website and they say it's 10 Gbps, not 6, which makes it indeed USB 3.1 gen 2. Having said this, however, is trivial because SATA 2.5" SSDs don't really get close to bottlenecking 6 Gbps even without considering overhead so I don't know if there's any use for a USB 3.1 gen 2 for SATA drives...

Got a GoPro 5 Session which I think has a USB-C connector. Since it's so tiny, I'm thankful for the convenience.

Does this work with optical drives too?
@Nalojuntu6 жыл бұрын
No. You'll need a version with an additional power supply to provide enough power for such heavy mechanical devices. For optical drives as well as 3.5" hard drives.

Hi Lon, please help me out, I'm buying the Samsung T3 ssd for my MacBook Pro 13" late 2016, which cable should I buy? I'm confused on this issue.
@LonSeidman7 жыл бұрын
+Elizabeth Navarro you should be fine with the cable it comes with - they should be packing in a USB-c to usb 3 cable.
