I was at this awesome show. As someone else said, it was to get footage for the Stop video. There were fliers in record stores promoting a special, secret Jane's show, with a phone number you had to call on a Saturday morning for instructions on how to get free tickets. My friends and I called first thing and all scored tickets. They didn't tell us where we were going. First we met at a parking lot, then got on a bus, after awhile were brought up the mountain, then transferred to shuttles for the last leg. I brought my deck and recorded the first 5 or 6 songs, which came out great, but then my batteries died! That freed me and my friend go around behind the band, standing literally two feet behind Stephen Perkins. We're both drummers and couldn't have asked for a better view. Afterwards, Perkins signed one of the sticks he used for the gig for me. I almost got Perry to sign something for me too, but I held off for too long, because I didn't want to bug him. When I finally screwed up the nerve to ask for an autograph, he said, "I'd rather not." Ouch! I distinctly remember seeing what looked like track marks on his arms while he was singing, but they were so obvious, I wondered if they were fake and just meant to be provocative. Living in L.A., I saw Jane's as much as I could in those days, because I really believed I was seeing a band that would one day be one of those legendary groups like the Velvet Underground or Led Zeppelin, who you could proudly say you got to see live, in their prime. They never got as big I expected.

This was my very first Jane's show. It was the videoshoot for "Stop." It was an amazing but short show. I was watching from the pool's diviing board until I remembered I don't know how to swim so I headed into the pit. Great show! This was the day after the wedding scene was shot for "The Gift" and the "Classic Girl" music video.

My favorite part is watching Kevin Lyman pull the crowd surfers down. Yeah, I was there too.

for the record, i was there! my friend was walking down Melrose and spotted a girl with a Jane's flyer that just had a religious image and phone # saying call to be put on a list for a special concert. tickets were $10 each or 2 for $15. later instructions were mailed along with a map to a location in LA somewhere. from there, they loaded us on a bus and rolled to the "secret location" which happened to be a ski lodge on Mt. Baldy. there were hundreds of people hanging around trying to get in..

Lefty Slim I have 500 gigabytes of GIFT outtakes, alt takes, etc with this whole show. Soundboard audio... I'll see if I can put it up.

It’s weird seeing Eric sitting down behind his amp during the breakdown part of the song whilst Perry peacocks around like a bit of a dick. That seems like an indicator to me that being in a band with Perry possibly wasn’t a lot of fun

Does anyone else get the sense that Avery was fundamentally distant from the rest of the band throught his time with J.A.? just always seemed to be the odd guy out to me
@PaulV5136 жыл бұрын
This was the height of the drug use in the band - or not, as Eric was going in and out of being clean. It was also the height of the drama and tension going on between Eric, Perry, and Casey. So you're kind of intuitive here.
@jamescotner24597 күн бұрын
No, he wrote the bulk of the music and maybe a bit shyer than Perry. Him and Perry started Jane’s

Seriously? Who cares about their drug use or abuse that's what makes them the band and people they are ,ask any one of them if you ever get the chance if they would change any thing and I bet they wouldn't ,all of the panel drug analysis is hilarious
