This is the Janes I adore and remember the most, so reckless, unpredictable, creative. It was like an out of control circus of sex, drugs and drugs. Great times that will NEVER be recaptured by any band............

you can tell by the audience how for ahead of their time Janes was. The crowd is full of mullets, ponytails, and people that had no clue what they were actually experiencing in the moment.

Janes is one of my favorite bands. This is some awsome footage. In 1989, I was a freshman in highschool, Im from Texas so, I did nt hear about them till the next year1990, and then Lalapalooza was 91. Wow, Im fucking old. Thanks ass hole for the video.

Closest thing to Led Zeppelin the next Gen got. The best Hard Rock band at that time -from 88-91 Janes was untouchable. I saw them in SF in 1990 and it was like a religious experience. All 4 guys elevate together and it was pure alchemy.

This was my fav band as a kid. Spring 89 was an impossibly good tour. 4 absolutely incredible musicians. Perry’s behavior got all the attention (rightfully so) but Dave, Stephen and Eric were legendary at this time.

@@gigrant74nope, Eddie was an old man when he made it compared to Dave. Dave was 17 when he joined, and Perry was almost 30.
@gigrant748 ай бұрын
@@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ec Eddie was not an old man. He was 19 when he formed Mammouth and 22 when Warner Bros signed them. Dave was 19 when he joined Jane’s and signed a major label at a younger age than Eddie, but from there Eddie took off at a level beyond Dave’s wet dreams. Dave will agree with this. But Dave deserves respect and I’m not trying to take anything away from him. Facts are facts.
@gigrant748 ай бұрын
Look at wiki if you don’t trust my dates on Dave. Born in ‘67 and joined Jane’s in 86. Perry was older than the rest for sure.
@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ec8 ай бұрын
@@gigrant74 all I said is Dave accomplished more at an earlier age. He had finished 3 albums, two of them went multi-platinum and considered classics, and Jane’s was about to break up when Van Halen broke with their first album. Obviously Van Halen is one of the biggest bands on the planet, and commercially eclipsed them later . You sound resentful? Can’t you be objective for once in your life?

I've always thought that Jane's Addiction was a perfect band. Perry is the ideal front guy, all of the music is so on point, everything is just great. This video really shows how they trailblazed a bit back then. It was a new stab at people, considering where music was going after the 80's. I think that people were used to punk rip offs or not so great metal. Jane's Addiction really came through!

Hey That's me at 1:25. Perry made fun of me. Said I was from an Ozzy Osbourne show. I was so smashed in front i had to get out. That was a very fun show. Mary's Danish opened. I think Perry was tripping on the college crowd a bit. It wasn't his usual artsy crowd. Best Band ever.

Yeah I've been looking at some of the comments and they mentioned something I've noticed at a few of their shitty performances. The audience look like a bunch of clowns that just got free tickets. Mind you Janes is one of my fav groups, but I don't like this at all. Shit 89' I was a skater in NYC. And let's keep it 100, at least for me only their first three albums were good. Amazing thing is Triple X was live and was so good. I saw the video where Perry said W.B 's took all his creativity. Nah Bro, the money you made did that and that yearning for something was gone before Ritual was even finished. Not to mention he pulled a real Hollywood move by claiming 50% or more of all $ and the other 3 got like a little more than 12%. And I don't know what I saw some Hollywood band that out out some straight garbage. Platinum pants with like platforms and a funny haircut and can't leave out that botox. Omfg and the that way overpriced box set. Even the title "The Glitz, the Glamour". I wouldn't buy that from Etsy for $10. It's sad. When I saw him at MSG and it was the first time any of us had seen this look, Green Dreads gone, but he pulled it off with a ceasar, wife beater, and khakis. Straight Mexican gangsta. But he rocked while drinking Red Wine 🍷 like a G. Kinda like when they performed in Milan "Then She Did". That's the Janes that real m.f.'er's Love Not some corny ass "Immersive Entertainment Complex" he did in Vegas. So fuckin' lame. After the first Lolla, he should have retired, collected that bank and just chilled. Porno's For Pyros wasn't bad, I liked it somewhat. I think a lot of hard core fans felt this way after Ritual. It just went down hill on ice after that. Alot of iconic bands do this, but Peretz personified what he claimed to hate.

Most crowds were hostile to bands “I never heard of” most people aren’t music fans and don’t appreciate underground music, cutting edge, or even new music. Most people like music 10 years ago, mega stars. Most kids today listen to mostly Drake who is a got dam old man long past his prime . Most people…. Are for the livestock.
