Great information. I've just been diagnosed with a stress fracture in the sacrum. I've had pain for a few years now

Great video! Have you ever made a video on sacroiliitis? The symptoms between a sacral stress fracture and sacroiliitis are quite similar but it seems like the treatment approach would be very different.
@SportsInjuryPhysio11 ай бұрын
They are very different conditions - sacroiliitis is an inflammatory condition which means that medication often play a big part in the treatment of it. We don't have any videos on that.

I LOVE you. This is so crucial for me right now. Do you offer MRI analysis?
@SportsInjuryPhysio Жыл бұрын
We don't do MRI analysis as such, but we will interpret the MRI report for you as part of the bigger picture if you book an appointment with one of our physios to have your injury assessed. More info here: www.sports-injury-physio.com/

I was injured as part of school bullying when girl always beat me up with her kicks to my butt I had pain but emotional pain was worse After 20 plus years I experience often pain and I believe that’s why my butt is turned up because of pain even it’s not sharp for so many years So many consequences of that injury Seem stupid but it is unevitable And not sure if it will be shown on mri

I had lung inflammation and was on Prednisone for one year. My lungs are fine now but I believe the Prednisone hurt my bone density. I probably should be taking calcium supplements?? Hopefully you can advise and help. Thank you

Hi there, The effect of medications and supplements on bone density is not our area of expertise. A dietician would be able to advise you on this.

I also was taking prednisone long term, but for an autoimmune condition. This caused a fracture in my sacrum. It sucks, right ! I hope your condition improves. 👍🌈

I also cracked my sacrum without even falling. Now on alandrate. Sorry if I misspelled. It's to get your bones stronger. Are you on this drug?
@fit2dafullest8087 ай бұрын
I also have a fractured sacrum most likely due to bulging disk in back, High BMI, hysterectomy, and I believe recent (7 months ago) SI Joint Fusion. Prior to this I was exercising a lot and was on prednisone for a long time for autoimmune condition RA.

Was it a nondisplaced sacral fracture? Did the pain go away permanently?
@IFSwithAndrea8 ай бұрын
Are PT exercises assigned as part of this recovery process? I had gluteal issues for 6 months before the back pain sacral stress reaction joined the party,. Then I was assigned lots of PT stuff mostly around spine stabilization and I've just stagnated with constant low grade pain for 5 months. So... I'm wondering if my recovery trajectory has been off target?
@SportsInjuryPhysio8 ай бұрын
In my experience people sometimes over-exercise through cross training and other exercise in general for stress fractures and that stops recovery. For example - lots of swimming that is pain free but because they also restrict diet at that point because as athletes we don't want to gain weight if not training hard, the body can't heal because it is still nutrient deficient. So yes, specific rehab like back strength etc. can be used in recovery but I would not add it too soon and I would likely evaluation your whole situation and check if the basic things for bone healing are present: good nutrition + not too much exercise + any vitamins and minerals that may be missing.

Thank you SOOO much for this! I am on the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of being all but bedridden at age 56. It seems like you specialize in people who are fitness training -- so I'm not sure if you would be able to halp me figure out what's going on with my sacrum? Overall what i heard that chimes with my intuition is watch for what hurts and make sure I'm getting enough sun. Also that it takes time. Thank you very much! I think mine is from long term bad posture while crocheting. I had Tarlov Cysts that wore my sacral plate to eggshell thin from the inside and surgery on it 3 years ago. They remove the plate - had to use surgical tweezers to do mine because it kept shattering -- at the end they usually replace it but in my case there wasn't much to replace. They then put in some material that later forms into bone. Sorry if I'm not explaining it well. I only go into these details in case it sparks a thought or if you think you might be able to help figure out someone in my situation or if you might think of someone else that could help me online? Also, I have Marfan Syndrome. I totally understand if you don't respond to this because my guess is i am as far away from your specialty as possible but i left this info just in case. Your video was very helpful and informative and brilliant!!💜💜💜

I'm afraid what you describing will be better assessed in person and it would not be useful for me to guess at what may be going on. Consulting a physio or consultant who specializes in the lower back and sacrum area would be your best option.

Yeah I've deffo got sacral fracture as well as rami fracture when the freemasons planned my road accident three-weeks ago. This is obviously not a common cycling stress fracture and depends on how hard you fall and at which angle. Sacral stress fracture is very painful when you add pressure and it can hurt when sitting down.

I have a distracted fracture involving the lateral base of the 5th metatarsal with a proximal fragment displaced approximately by up to .6 cm. Do you recommend surgery for this type of injury or can it be healed with time? Thank you.

I'm not an athlete but I suffered a pretty bad sacral fracture that an MRI detected . I couldn't even weight bear - the pain was excruciating, agonizing that I would cry because it was unbearable pain. Years of steroids to treat lupus contributed the this & of course I'm also deficient in Vitamin D3. I finally healed after a few months of bed rest but I've had pain ever since that fracture. Any kind of weight bearing is painful, every step is painful. Seems I'm always going to have problems & terrible pain from that fracture.

I recently few backwards whilst doing box jumps and landed backwards on my sacrum. The fall was extremely painful, but I have minimal bruising and sitting or short periods of walking does not cause me much pain. However if I move suddenly, squat or even sneeze, it is painful. How likely is it that this is a stress fracture vs. an SI joint sprain? Really unsure as to whether to get an MRI or not - especially due to their cost!
@SportsInjuryPhysio2 жыл бұрын
If it is broken, it won't be a stress fracture - it will be a traumatic fracture. Traumatic fractures show up on x-rays so that would be the first choice of scan to get and it is also much cheaper than MRI.

On Feb.18 I fell quite hard going down stairs & had fractured the transverse process of my L2 & L3 vertebrae. Which I knew that very moment I had fractured something. I have had both a clean break & fracture in different grades. Fractures definitely are worse pain wise. If you fracture something you will know for sure it's a fracture..but I drove myself to the e.r & they looked at me like I was joshin them but I got a mri but one without the dye..it showed the fractures. I was given 5 oxycoden with Tylenol & come back in if it gets worse. No brace or mention of one. I was given a small packet about fractures of the transverse process, causes symptoms recovery you know that whole bit.. well it had be slowly getting better.. I don't have the option to have rested as much as I should have because I have a 1 & 3 yr old. ..anyways slowly getting worse then literally on the 23rd I took a nap which I never do &when I woke up I had the most intense pain across my sacrum area radiating up the right of my lumbar spin of course & thought it was just a symptoms caused by my lumbar fractures & they'd dwindle & go away.. like so painful & intense I randomly & becoming more frequent can not turn even to take a step like my legs won't listen to my brain & start dragging then triggers my sacrum to spasm painfully from bottom then up & I can't walk & have to grab something to take the weight off & stop the spasm.. I can't lift with out intense pain every time. Or lean slightly any direction or walk or turn without triggering that wicked spasm..Idk if I should be worried or just wait it out😞. Literally causing a lot of stress on me & I know I have burn out.. I can't keep up with my duties no how much I try & push through those spsams..

@@faithless2025 well I'm doing better. I have not lost the knot/twisting in my left sacrum which causes a consistent ache. & on my right side I have a consistent pain that feels almost like a deep dull pressure. & last time I was measured I have lost a inch in height. Which I mean I could have been measured a bit off but I never before &I been 5'4 1/2 since I was 13yrs old. I'll be 34 on the 8th😅😬. I'm a mom & PCA. I never was able to get nothing near the proper rest as I should have..but i don't have anyone to help me & a woman's work is never done I spose'😊

I’m just wondering if I could contact you for some advise ? Iv returned from a femoral neck stress fracture and instantly got a stress reaction in the sacrum . I think this is coming from an imbalance issue i regularly have to be re aligned by my chiropractor. Left hip ( side that’s had both fractures ) is always higher before alignment . I did catch it early it’s at stress reaction stage but as I’m constantly getting issues on this left hip I can only link it to that side always being higher ?
