I find it funny that when writing from the perspective of a dog or whatever it's assumed that they don't know how we do things like poop or clean ourselves. Because I had a ferret that not only figured it out, but also tried to mimick me. She figured out that I poop and pee in the toilet, so she started pooping and peeing around the toilet instead of her litter box. I had to put garbage bags down to keep the floor clean. She figured out that I clean myself in the shower, and while she still groomed herself like normal, she'd play this game every morning where she'd run around the outer edges of the stream of water trying not to get wet. She was never successful. But then I'd put a towel down for her afterwards, and she'd rub her body on it, and sometimes would even grab an edge with her mouth and roll to wrap herself up in it - basically trying to dry herself like me. She also went from sleeping on top of blankets to sleeping under them with her head (and maybe a paw) sticking out, because that's how I slept. She was the cutest and sweetest little goober ever :3

Dear Diary, Dearest human made a smaller made a smaller made a smaller human. It's like a hairless teddy bear, except it provokes silence and tension wherever it goes. When other humans see the small human, they get quiet and stare at it, occasionally taking turns holding it. And when it makes noise, all the humans seem to panic. Like a delicate ritual. I too have to be cautious around this small human because dearest human gets unhappy when I try to communicate with the small human. I now let it do whatever it wants to do, including things to me. This morning it ate my food, and when I ate its food, dearest human was unsettled. It stuck it's hand in my mouth, so I did nothing. This seemed to please dearest human.

I read a book out loud during a thunderstorm once for my dog who was afraid of thunderstorms. He would stop shaking when I read a book between the thunder of the storm. I think hearing a story kept him from panicking too much about the storm.

I know I'm really, really late with this comment, but it's an unusually common behavior for dogs to react differently to bearded / hatted people than those without. How they react differently depends on the dog, but I've seen it happen in several dogs.

This is so so sad. What I noticed is my dog always loves it when I do the things I like and relax, like when I game CoD or listen to some of my favourite bands like AC/DC, Delta Parole, Lifehouse it feel like my dog is rocking out to the music together with me. Being a dog owner is one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life, if you can give your dog the time he or she needs you will learn something new about your dog every day.

They can now. Many people now use the voice buttons for dogs that allow dogs to tell us what they think and want. It all started when the Gorilla named Koko was learning to use human language using symbols and words on laminated cards. Her pet dog was watching, and soon he was also using tje cards to communicate. Then Stanford started teaching other dogs, then it was made available to the public, then someone made these boards with buttons to push for words. There are several tic toc accounts that show dogs who communicate this way.

I can't tell you how many times I have paused and thought about these sad dog diary entries, trying to explain my dogs behavior. Anything from attacking coyotes at 1am on Christmas day to eating some form of cat poop outside that causes explosive diarrhea at 1am christmas day -- and the next 5 days .. Just this morning my dog spun around on my couch and hoodie which I assumed was checking for men with hats and beards with an epic klinger crap covering couch and hoodie. If it wasn't for your video I may have been offended. Thank you for this.
