I have in metallic gold, and i was thinking to get another one in black or beige . I have two Gabrielle bags (small black croc from 19a and the large in black). I love them both. Surprisingly, I prefer the larger size because it's perfect to wear over large coats in the winter and fits my gloves / hat. The construction is incredible and I have no issues with either bag after years of wear. I'm sad to hear that it's being phased out but I'm so glad that I have mine and they still look new.

I totally agree - The Boy bag looks SO dated compared to the Gabrielle... I think this bag was a little too cool for the mainstream, safe, middle-of-the-road client who just wanted to buy a (so-called) safe investment. It's one of the most stylish, versatile and edgy bags I have ever owned and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Give it a few years... the cool and futuristic Gabrielle will be relaunched in a few years, trust me... I know these things!

I absolutely love my Gabrielle bag. I got a small one for my lifestyle & my style, it’s perfect. The reason I went for Gabrielle than flap bags, I like the uniqueness of the bag & it’s versatility of it. Especially the small one. Regarding classic flap bags, I prefer older classic ones where hardware were plated with 24k & made more beautifully. I am really not fan of current flap bags & I find price is ridiculous. Another reason I opted out with classic flap, there are too many counterfeit & makes it less unique (in my opinion). Since, Gabrielle came out, I was very intrigued by its unique structure & construction with different material & tricolour chains. I absolutely fell in love with it. This is how I realize the bag is unique, every time I carry that bag either casual events or fancy dinning out or parties, classic flaps will be mostly carried by people, but I would be the only one with Gabrielle. Exclusiveness is awesome. I personally think, bag is beautifully crafted, leather will become beautiful as it will age (as long as we take care of ‘em) & I really don’t noticed the glaze until you mentioned it which really doesn’t bother me. Plus I haven’t seen counterfeit of Gabrielle bag as much as classic flap bags, yet. I don’t think it will be easy to counterfeit the Gabrielle bag as it requires quiet bit of construction & materials where cost would be high. I feel like this Gabrielle bag speaks more of Karl than Chanel 19 (in my opinion).

I love love LOVE this bag, bought it in September for €5600, but took it back the next day because the leather cracked in less than 24 hours. I was devastated. I decided not to get one in the end… at least not new. It was not meant to be for me. I saw it in the boutique the other day and it just does not do it for me plus the tight zipper closure is bad for the fingers or for scratches to any rings one might be wearing…. The design of Gabrielle bag is unique and the structure is more complicated while the 19 and 22 are not so. 19 and 22 are easy to make comparing to other classic bags so Chanel can save time and reduce costs on skill training and making bags, and probably can make more money if they are popular.

Push the 22 all they like, it doesn't have the makings of a great bag that can withstand constant use. If I have to choose the Gabriel is the best btw the two. Besides the 22 that's just been released has way too many people complaining of the leather breaking.

I came to know about this particular bag because of Jimin of BTS, he had it years ago and still wears it to this day. I wonder what you’d think about the way he customized the bag with Chanel brooches he actually pinned on the bag, and how he had sewn “I’m so haapy”on the bag (wrongly spelled, yet so cute). I feel like the Gabrielle gets quite overlooked... You're so right that the Boy is starting to look a bit dated (I do still love the Chevron version, but not enough to buy it yet lol!). I really don't like the saddle bag style Boy.- it doesn't look high-end luxe enough for me, to me it looks more like Chloe (who I love, but, y'know, they're a slightly lower level of luxe designer). For me, the large Gabrielle kind of fell between two stools - hobo, but also elements of a tote... Felt like she didn't quite know what she was.

I do still like the Boy bag even thiugh it bothers me still that it is not leather lined. But I appreciate the edginess of it, the boxiness. None of the new styles since has interested me. I wouldn`t be suprised that they fade out the Gabrielle if nobody wants to buy it anyway. Was in search of a second hand Gabrielle in the old medium size last year and got one in great condition (no scratch, small stain on interior and creases on exterior) at reasonable price. But honestly, pristine condition second hand Gabrielle, like pristine condition second hand reissue, is extremely rare on the market and usually costs only around 1k less than retail - at that price point and knowing about super fakes, I’m considering buying at store…

But you cannot compare the two bags. The Gabrielle is discontinued because sales are going down and most people are not interested in it while the GST was discontinued because way too many people had it and wanted it and it was a highly replicated bag so chanel wanted to stop over populating the market with it. The GST was discontinued because way too desired. Thats why it still holds its value today.

You can already get the Gabrielle second hand cheaper than retail. Even the 2.55 is mostly cheaper second hand than retail and its not even discontinued. The millennium bag is cheaper second hand now than it was when it was new, the girl bag is cheaper, the 31 bag is cheaper… the list goes on and on…

1000000% agree that they should have discontinued the Boy bag instead of the Gabrielle - le sigh. My only concern for discontinued bags (in general) is once they stop the bag, and if the buyer has any issues / need repair, Chanel may not be able to repair (especially if the repair pieces are not available) - only saying this since this seems to be the case for Dior... AND YES to getting a Gabrielle bag (a little piece of Chanel history now) :)

Brands are failing to discover their next “classic” piece, it’s the same issue for Hermes, Cartier, dior and VCA, they venture to develop a new silhouette but it all just “it” piece that can hardly stand the test of time, just my personal opinion, the Gabrielle, albeit a useful function bag contrary to the nano bag trend lately, is not simple enough to make to it classic, when you look at all these brands, their biggest income came from a classic design which they can simply work on different color, pattern and materials, and create huge profit from the same, but now when the “classic” started to slowly saturate even the second hand market, these brands need to come up with thr “next classic” to stay relevant, so Chanel for me seem testing the waters often these years by pushing out new design every new season, and to do that they need to “retire” design that ain’t as popular to recoup production cost for these new pieces

I prefer Gabriel to 22. The design of the chain, multiple ways wearing the bag, the casual style transformed from the 2.55 and CF which we called classic bags to the 19, it's all history. It's sad to hear that Gabriel is going to fade out. I personally don't have the Gabriel and I am not going to buy one, but I do think it represents an era of Karl, an era of modern fashion, as important as the Diana bag. They are both milestones of Chanel bags.

I have the small Gabby and luving it. I think the new medium will look great on you. Down point is you need to be careful bc of the smooth bottom. When I was at my local boutique to check out the sizes, all 3 had scratches at the bottom. 😞

The leather at the chain peeled and to her horror, the SA told her the material is not real leather. It is leather + cotton. ( to her vocab, its pleather). The SA explained that due to the chain connector being tiny, they can't use real leather (#excuse). She was shocked that paying a high price and not getting real leather. Will take 6 months to replace and they are trying to request HQ to waive the fees. SA said its a common issue for Gabby. After the replacement, she is going to sell the bag. Another friend already sold hers last year. Also a medium size.

No, babe boy. It is not being faced out because it is hard to made, or because it isnt sustainable (leather it self is not sustainable, cows are the biggest contributor of global warming etc.. etc). It is just not selling well, and Chanel does not want to waste time, labor, material in an item that is not banking money. They would rather use those resources into another bag. "Only" $5,400 usd?. .. $1000 usd more than a mini? for a larger bag, that utilize more storage space, and that you may end up burning? Lets get serious here. Btw...
