You open Twitch. It’s Ninja. You switch to TikTok. It’s Ninja again. You go to KZbin. Tyler Ninja Fortnite Blevins. Your hands shake with anxiety as you turn off all your devices. Ninja is always there. Your TV, your microwave, your tamagotchi. Finally, after cutting off the electricity to your house and destroying every appliance you own, you attempt to sleep. Closing your eyes, his very unique blue hair and really cool mini fridge fades into view. You try to scream, but the only sound that comes out is the default dance music.

Auditioning platforms as a theory makes the most sense to me. If he is everywhere at once, then his followers have to choose where to watch him. If there is a clear favourite, that is good info for him.

My theory is that he thought quitting may flood viewers to his livestreams, and when that didn't work he pivoted to 'work harder' mentality and figured more sites more monetization

It’s smart if he’s testing all platforms to see where his audience goes and negotiate a better deal for exclusivity. But why throw a tantrum instead of explaining that he’s taking a step away for a bit to figure this out? Weapon using mental health for views? Got it.

After I read about the incident I just had a normal reaction of "people are dying, kim" sort of thing but after a day of thinking about it I started to think it was a pr move or a way to easily jump to a new platform without getting questions about it...and I honestly felt bad for being so cynical about the situation, especially if he really was in a bad space mentally. I guess I feel a bit better knowing I wasn't being too cynical, but it is still such a suck situation. Manipulating your fanbase of young kids just so you don't have to be honest or talk some about what you are wanting to do is seriously messed up. I'm sure a lot of his fans were really worried and upset but I guess it was worth it to him.

I think if Ninja promotes his donation link above all else, the goal is to cut out the share of revenue that whatever site he’s partnered with would have gotten. Personally I think he’s multi-streaming to build leverage and wait out a fat offer from whichever titan wants their share of the subs, bits, ect.

It also just seems pointless to stream to some platforms, right now he has 5k viewers on KZbin and 10k on twitch, while having 200 and 400 respectively on Twitter and Facebook. Like, it just seems pointless to presumably make your moderators look at those chats when there are so few people using those platforms.

With a few weeks hindsight, I bet ninja knew the 50-50 split was coming and that’s why he did all this
@synthiandrakon2 жыл бұрын
There is a certain logic to streaming on all platforms, if you get more viewers across a bunch of platforms you could probably negotiate higher sponsorship deals, even without twitch subs you can do donations in third party, you can even set up third party subscriptions with like extensions and shit if you're clever. There is also ad revenue to consider, it can ad up to make more sense than you'd think, it's just no one of ninjas size has tried it before, this is usually the strat of small streamers desperate for growth
@chelseybrown23342 жыл бұрын
I just feel like he’s ALREADY doing good numbers and he’s on a website where most ppl watch streams. I can see wanting to get his hand on KZbin and Instagram. But the other apps just seem like overkill. Edit oh wait he was already on KZbin? Now I’m just confused 😂

With drama or investments being the exception; Internet fame is so crazy to watch because it's such a shadow of what the internet has become- specifically internet fame. Ninja, the biggest and most well known streamer to exist so far- could switch to furniture store ads tomorrow and nobody would bat an eye. If Micheal Jordan, the first common place name in his feild switched to doing that, half way into the first decade of his career, people would have lost their minds in disbelief. Eventually this could change. But I bet you my last two cents the internet as a whole will emulate whatever 'celebrity' it produces.

I had to pause this ep, unfortunately, even though I love your content Jordan and Jarvis and will still watch it in general for sure!!! I couldn't watch further after Jordan said that Ninja's behaviour was like someone being cut off in traffic and saying "well, I'll just k*ll myself then," the joke being that this wouldn't happen for real, so Ninja must be faking. It was a bit too close to home for me - sometimes when you're in a really bad headspace a tiny trigger like that can push you over the edge, even when the real cause of what you're feeling is much bigger. Sorry for the heavy comment! And if I'm lacking context - I just couldn't watch any more than I did. Still big respect to you both 🙏

IMO this is a case of Main Character syndrome where he thought more people would care about the whole meltdown and what he was going to do. In reality all this did was limit his own income and divide his audience onto multiple platforms. I'm not sure why you'd want to do either of those, but I also get that he doesn't particularly need a lot of money considering how well off he has already become. Dividing his audience is the main factor here that I don't understand. The whole point of having a chatroom in your stream is so that people can communicate with you, and in-turn communicate with each other during the livestream, which in turn creates a fun experience for mostly everyone involved. Say he created a program to consolidate the chats for himself so he could more easily see every comment, that doesn't help the chatters which will hurt their motivation to come back considering less people will be chatting. Overall I'd say this was a Ninja/10, on par with Braless wife bringing me a sandwich.
