Hi all... I am a Tibetan born in Tibet and came to India at the age of 4. I can connect this song even though it's not only about free Tibet movement. I think this song is about the basic human rights. Whenever I listen this song, I feel the pain, I feel the support from India and gets Goosebumps. Thank you India, thank you A.R. Rehman for wonderful music, thank you Mohit Chauhan for amazing voice, thank you Ranbir Kapoor for the wonderful acting and thank you Imtiaz Ali for this wonderful thought.

This song gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Its a blend of the finest of India's artistic talent- A R Rahman, Ranbir Kapoor and of course Imtiaz Ali. And also the inclusion of the Tibetan struggle against the blatantly oppressive illegal annexation of our motherland Tibet by the world's biggest bully China, as a running theme in the video, makes it all the more powerful and soul stirring for me. The Tibetan national flag waving majestically in the background through the video adds to the intensity of the song and the acting. Those scenes with Tibetans flying the Tibetan flag were shot in Dharamsala, HH the Dalai Lama's home away from home and the seat of the exiled Tibetan government. If people have noticed, there are Tibetan flags and Free Tibet badges on Ranbir's coat and guitar as well! I will take this opportunity to thank Imtiaz Ali for going that extra mile to bring the Tibetan issue into the mainstream India; cinema does have the biggest audience after all. Thank you. 1 it's about rights and 2 it was shot in Dharamshala, which is also known for Tibetian monasteries. So you see Ranbir surrounded by Tibetian people. They wanted to kinda show their protest to everyone. So, they're holding their flags. I don't know if you have paid attention to this or not. There is one seen in this song where they r holding a banner which says "FREE" and the other part is blur. It was actually "FREE TIBET" which was later censored by censor board, as it was creating mess.

there were a lot of political movement references, the free Tibet movement ( you could see the Tibetan flags and the monks in the video) , the khalistan movement which wants a free Punjab and also the Kashmir secession movement. though those clips caught some eyeballs and became controversial but all the movements are very mass based.

The guitar solo was recorded by Orianthi, she's really awesome, she was playing with Michael Jackson in preparation for his This Is It tour. Fun fact: I was reading somewhere that Ranbir Kapoor smoked some pot to do some of the scenes in the video. Oh and some of you Indians who may not know Rage Against The Machine is, they were this rap metal band from the 90s, very politically charged. You know how in some parts of the video you see Ranbir Kapoor raising his fist up? That's what Tom Morello (guitarist from RATM) does, as an homage to Black Power.

Yeah this song is very RATM like with how he says sadda haq kinda like how zack says "and you did what they told you" but less aggressive cuz of course its for a movie soundtrack and you can't have straight up screaming in a bollywood movie song.

In 6:56 you can look into a banner of marroon color in which Free Tibet was written. But due to Chinese pressure, Tibet was blurred.

the flag which was waved by the crowd in the end of that video is the flag of Tibet. They are also demanding freedom from china. Tibet is also running their government (in exile) in India since Dalai Lama took refuge in India. That flag was blurred in the movie which was later aired in the tv later on. May be because the Chinese embassy objected it at some point. Still ... that tibetan flag also holds relevance to this song as they are struggling for their freedom from Chinese colonialism/imperialism. No offense to any of the chinese viewers here though. its an issue going around.

Actually Ranbir Kapoor played a rockstar in movie as u can see..... And he was victim of media torture, media was entering his personal space n using his personal life for their profit... N he was getting affected by those media moves very badly n his love life was also very messed up... Due to mixture of those things he went to jail... N through this song he was busting out his rage
