After changing out my stator and regulator for a Cycle Electric stator and regulator, I rode 1500 miles on my 30 year old 1994 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Nostalgia FLSTN to Tampa Florida and back in order to visit Forgotten Angels again.

Hi mate, love your videos, keep ‘‘em coming.. I have 5 old scoots and man they keep me busy maintenance wise, especially after tearing over these roads in Tasmania. Anyhow, a Harley evo is one of my bikes. Appreciate your stuff, cheers.

That was impressive, how much she was charging at idle! Like you pointed out, it looks like the old stator had a couple of windings that looked suspiciously dark. I'm 100% with you on changing out the regulator at the same time. It's like front end parts on a car. If you just change out one worn out part, you can take it to the bank that the "good" tie rod or ball joint that you leave on the other side will fail quick, fast, and in a hurry. Parts that work together should get replaced together, even if only one actually failed. Everything from your lights to your ignition will be a lot happier with that good, strong, consistent voltage. Scotty has shown how much beefier the Cycle Lectric stators are compared to the cheap knockoffs, and now you just showed us how beefy they are compared to the HD part. Good videos like this make it easy to make up my mind to spend the money on the good parts. Thanks for takin us along for the ride, Tramp

Nice work brother. I’ve done many electrical and charging system repairs in my time, and when I was on the tools full time, I use to enjoy diagnosing and repairing wires and stuff. I too hate interstate roads. Here in Australia, I’ll stay as far off the highway as possible. Better roads, better scenery and sure it takes longer, but more time on the bike is never a bad thing.

When you installed your new stator, how did you go about getting the rubber plug to go through the hole in the case? It was a mighty pain when I did mine, until I tied a length of twine around the plug and pulled from through the whole outside the case....popped right in, clipped the twine, mission accomplished. But until the twine idea, that plug WAS NOT going into that hole far enough.
