SWATF, one can say, was the South West African Army. I thought that it was a pity that it disappeared, around the time with independent Namibia. They had good and unique rank insignia and some beret badges. Their rank structures were basically the same as SADF's, with different rank insignias. (Unique rank insignias much like with the American Army.)

Warrant Officer First Class could be further promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major (emblem on red background), Group Sergeant Major (emblem on green background) and Brigade Sergeant Major (emblem on black background). Then there was the Sergeant Major of the Army, etc. (each arm of service, including Special Forces) and lastly, Sergeant Major of the Defence Force.

3:51 I am an ex sea cadet and you can get a MAA both ashore and afloat, Coxswains were the SNCO aboard warships the size of a frigate and below. MAAs served aboard warships the size of a destroyer and above, although AFAIK since the 90s all frigates had an MAA as the SNCO. The MAA would be the equivalent of an RSM, but all MAA's belonged to the Regulating Branch (MP), and is assisted in the enforcement of naval security, law, order and discipline by Regulators (Crushers). In the RCN Coxuns are the SNCO aboard all warships. All MAAs were addressed as Master, Mistress or Sir, behind their back Jaunty, Jossman or Joss.

Fist I would correct you the SADF rangs was in line with Britsh Defences forces the only one not found in the Britsh army is komanant as that was a Boer rank which we kept from the Boer war .I don't know where you got you info of the nicknames but there is a lot of them wrong.I had made a list and I personlly ask people for it. The name dogtag come from WWII but you won't know that.

Lance corporal was not a rank. It was a *demotion* from private (or, in my case, rifleman/skutter). I know this from personal experience. A lance corporal was a skutter that caught all of the k*k.

Two points: What about Chaplains corps? And how is a Brigadier General addressed? Brig or Genl?
@struiswaai

General. All Chaplains are assumed to wear the rank of colonel.

Chaplains were either permanent force or National Servicemen. Ordained ministers served as National Servicemen were second lieutenants or ensigns in their first year, and were promoted to first lieutenant or Sub-Lieutenants in the second year. When doing further service - “camps” they became a full chaplain which was the equivalent to a Colonel or navy Captain. The Chaplains corps was headed by a Chaplain General, usually a Lieutenant General in his own right. Each branch of the service was led by a chaplain who was a colonel or a Navy Captain in his own right.

@Siward Beorn Correct; "it" was (just) Chaplain but the protocol was Colonel. In fact, the rank was floating - if a Chaplain was on a military base whose OC was (for discussion purposes) a Lieutenant, then the Chaplain's protocol rank was Lieutenant. That said, if the OC of the base held the rank of General then the Chaplain's protocol rank remained Colonel.
