If people like Sadguru himself are not aware of the answers and/or reasons why things were done the way it was done, then I suppose India may have to witness a few more partitions in future. Even now none of our leaders nor spiritual masters like Sadguru have the required boldness and courage to spell out our concerns to the people openly. On the other hand, the so called minority communities and their leaders including the religious masters as always knows clearly their concerns and needs and never fail to communicate them to their people.

Partition was needed. Only the way was incorrect. Those who wanted their Riyasat e Pudina should've been packed off, rather than allowed to stay on. This is the greatest blunder.

The 1946 elections should have happened with the condition of open information about who voted for whom (no secret ballot), and it should have been conducted with the condition that if one voted for the party that wanted partition, that person would be made to shift to the other side with his liquid wealth only and leaving behind his land assets. No change of mind would be allowed later. In that case, either people would not vote for that party, or would be made to leave. People of UP, CP etc places hatched this idea of two nation, and other areas faced the brunt of their decision, while those from UP and CP are still with the mainland causing further trouble.

The partition of India in to two states for communal reasons created communal riots in India and Pakistan. A lot of people were killed due to communal violence. The people of Punjab and Bengal were affected maximum. Due to killings and losing home and property the people of Punjab and Bengal were traumatized. They behaved in a abnormal way for a long time. We cannot blame them for this unusual behaviour. On the hole the partition of India on religious basis was a great blunder committed by the political leaders of both India and Pakistan.

My family moved to India from Punjab in 1947.. It was bloody.. In hindsight despite losing our homes and lands, it was the best thing that ever happened. It gave Bharat time to recover its civilisation. Muslims must never be given any keys to power in Bharat. Over representation of Muslims in positions of power in judiciary , bureaucracy or the police is an inherently destabilising factor for any non Muslim country. (Learn from the Islamisation of Kashmir). BTW no Muslim country is stable without an iron grip on its Muslim citizens.)

Why has Sadguru jumped on the bandwagon of the BJP in disowning Modern Indian History. Let us as Indians own our history whatever it be. Lokmanya Tilak was the first to give impetus to the Freedom movement. Two people with opposite agendas came on the scene after him 1) Jinnah and 2) Savarkar promoting religious feelings. With the coming of Gandhi the INC became a group which followed a policy of compromise. By 1947 Jinnah successfully carved out Pakistan. However Sarvarkar was unsuccessful in swaying the majority of the masses as a result INC with its known policy of compromise carried India through our Independence till recently. The ideology of the BJP is no different from that of Savarkar. It is no use crying over spilt milk.

Said the declaration: "It is impossible for the people to think in terms of neutrality or passivity during invasion by an enemy power." Of striking significance was the fact that the declaration, like Britain's offer, officially recognized the Moslem League's demands for a separate Moslem state. Hitherto Congress has loftily insisted that the separatist talk is merely a threat which would not be strongly supported among India's great 80,000,000 Moslem minority. Whether this is true or not, the Madras declaration, by recognizing the separatist demands, may paradoxically prove to be an important step toward India's wartime and post-war unity. But the first reaction of some Congress leaders to the declaration was shocked disapproval. In Calcutta Congress President Maulana Abdulkalam Azad said that he was pained by C.R.'s attitude.

Sikhs expressed their strongest disapproval to any proposal involving the division of India into various States, as contemplated in the Cripps proposals.The Hindu Mahasabha leadership also told the Congress that the Sikhs would not agree to the creation of Pakistan, in any form. The Congress chiefly rejected it on the same basis as the Sikhs that the unity of India was under threat. But soon another blow for the Sikhs and the Punjab Hindus came in the form of the RAJAJI´S ACCEPTANCE of the Pakistan Scheme. ACHARIA (an ex-Premier of Madras) had been a member of the Congress Working Committee for the last two decades and also enjoyed a close friendship with Gandhi. On 23 April 1942, the Madras Congress Legislature Party under Rajaji´s leadership recommended that the Congress acknowledge the Pakistan claim of the League,as a last resort. In the Punjab, the Acharia group was fully backed by the Punjab Congress President, Mian Iftikharuddin's group. On May 9 1942, Rajaji argued that no community could be forced to remain in the Indian Union against its wishes.But the Congress was not prepared to give in. The Congress Working Committee rejected Acharia's initiative; shortly afterwards Rajaji resigned from the committee. The Muslim press applauded the Acharia group's efforts as gestures of good-will towards the Muslim community and praised Rajaji for his farsightedness. The Akali Conference at Amritsar interpreted Acharia's proposals as a virtual recognition of the League's Pakistan demand;

Partition was good. But the way partition was done is stupidity. Issue is brain and heart. When to use which is the question? Even today Bharath is better because we had the partition. (Though we failed to learn lesson from the experience we emotionally handled it and messed it, it is still much good. if we completely handled it with brain it would have been better).

If there was no partition, there would be large, strong subcontinent. The US, UK and allies would not have managed to attack Iraq, Afghanistan. Indian subcontinent would be progressive power. Turkey would be friends, Iran would not be suffering the sanctions. Because India is broken. The United States is able to bully India and Pakistan is played by China, US, UK etc. People saying it was good are saying because of the current situations, not because they are able to capture how things were going to play out. Also every body misses that if India had violently revolted against British or if the British didn't support Jinnah for their strategic interest in the region, there would be no partition. We could say partition was a good decision if it happened among Indians without any external interference but that's not the case here.
