She’s a junior rn and the national record was 4:33 for outdoor. Also she has run way fast than 4:38 in the past multiple times she just ran 4:34 at Arcadia idk what these announcers were talking about but alr hua

They have never seen such a goated junior runner

I was just about to comment this. Katelyn Tuohy was the national record holder for the mile and it was only 6 or 7 years ago, not 1982 😭

@yourfriendcocap308 touhy has the record for the 1600 this is the mile record there's a difference lol

Congratulations to Sadie. She's been outstanding for years but this year is coming all together and should continue to be special.
@blainenewton71887 ай бұрын
Now, THAT was impressive! No pacing, no competition! She basically just ran a 4:31 time trial! That last lap was brutal, but she pushed through it. With a couple more races and some competition, she could probably go 4:27 or better.
@docpj727 ай бұрын
yeah she ran a 4:09 1500m last month beating several pro runners which is the equivalent of a 4:29 mile--real impressive that she ran a 4:31 solo!
@16nowhereman7 ай бұрын
She made the Olympic standard mile.

Do they run the mile at the Olympics? What time is the standard
@blainenewton71887 ай бұрын
@@DonShields-ud8cf No, they run the 1,500m, which is slightly more than 100m less than a mile. Women's Olympic qualifying standard is 4:06 for 1,500m, which converts to about a 4:24 mile.

Not quite hitting the standard

This was terrific to see live tonight. Arcadia Invite and Mt Sac Invite have been amazing to watch Engelhardt race.

The announcers need to do their collective homework. As stated above, Sadie is a Junior in High School. She has declared early….

fr they called her a senior😭

At the end of the first lap, Sadie Engelhardt looked like Wonder Woman, leading a pack of little girls.

amazing... no pacers, no pace lights and no competition whatsoever and she still breaks it. this was basically a time trial.

OMG, that was a solo run from the gun. WOW!!!

43 years of watching track and field, and that was one of the most impressive h.s. races i've seen, but hands-down the worst commentary i've ever heard for what should have been a marquee h.s. race that evening. do your homework--get her year right, get the records right, and how could they NOT know that she was chasing a national record, NOT a meet record? but maybe dumbest thing said is 2:10 in: that dude on the infield is NOT her coach! and what would he tell her that she doesn't already know 500m in? smh...
@-masteryoda7 ай бұрын
IKR?! At 2:25 they also say its gonna hurt 300-400m in, which it definitely shouldn't if you're running a mile...

You are spot on....
@lynncannon74847 ай бұрын
Not surprized she did 4:31.72 because her previous 4:09.70 1500m is equivalent to 4:27.

Nice race from Sadie for sure! She's full on lethal up to that 1,600 distance, lots of power in her. Interesting to see Rylee Blade in this race though, she's kind of the opposite and is more finesse over power. I think she could be a NCAA 10k champ her junior/senior year with a consistent trajectory. Sadie could break more than a few records at college though.
@DocsTranscriptAudio7 ай бұрын
Could also get lapped at least once by Leachman in an NCAA 10k
@samanderson77457 ай бұрын
@@DocsTranscriptAudio It's possible. I like Leachman, she should be really fun to watch the next couple of years. However, I'm not banking on her to be running sub 30 for the 10k. Maybe, but probably not. It'll be interesting to see how she handles hitting the inevitable plateau that she will hit in the next several years. Still, I think she has tremendous upside!
