Stan thank you for sharing. I had a stroke the end of November. Lost the use of my right side and speech, everyday since I’ve been pushing myself. Now I can use my right side again and speech is better everyday. You give my hope that I can recover fully. Lovely to see your doctor, unlike mine, I haven’t seen one yet, there is a waiting list in the UK. I look at life differently now and want to get out there ad live it.

Keep pushing yourself in everything every day, even though you will feel tired as the early days are the most important. Unlike you I had good medical care in 2003 but was still determined to walk, talk, run, dance etc again. It took quite a few months but I have 2 small residual issues which only I notice.

Yes, when you're inside the tomograph machine (when they scan your brains), you usually make more decisions than while new years eve. Get better soon! My method to get fast recovery was knitting, trying to juggle and learning the button accordion, it makes your brain work and gives very good results.

I feel sorry for you having to wait. My husband had a stroke while on holiday in the S of France, was rushed to hospital on a Saturday night at midnight, operated on a clot in the brain more or less immediately, regained his movement and speech and had the mist amazing care in the university hospital in Nice for 11 days. He most likely would be in a bad way had he been in the UK at the time. Since then the NHS has been so slow he has not had an appointment yet and he needs an intervention to mend his heart! Shocking

When I watch Stan playing music and singing, and cooking for Sadie, it reminds me of my old friend George Gilfoil, who was a renaissance man in his own right. He also loved rehabbing, was a talented chef (had his own patisserie shop for a while), IT professional, small business owner, loved books... And very much missed after he crossed the veil unexpectedly this past October. I hadn't seen him for years, or lived in the Portland, Maine area where he eventually settled and where his family is based, but the memories of him and his friendship are dear to me and will be cherished until I make the journey myself across the threshold of mortal life. 💛💞💛 Thanks, Stan, for reminding me of so many happy memories with my old friend.

My husband had a stroke and also had to learn to sit up straight and walk and he had the same sense of humour as Stan. He was not alowed liquids all drinks had to be thickened so he sent our 4yr old grandson to the drink and snacks dispenser. Told him to find an empty can of Redbull in the waste basket and put it on the table over the bed for when the doctor came. To help with his memory they told me to bring photos. I just grabbed a few and amongst them was our wedding photo. He did not say anything until the wedding photo came up. He then said Bad Mistake. It took a lot of time and work but he recovered fully. So anyone who has a stroke it is important to get them medical help as soon as possible also to give them hope that there is recovery. By the way Stan his doctor did not mind him having red wine as it was supposed to be better for the health than Whiskey. The cigarettes NEVER AGAIN! I drank the Whiskey. I needed it dealing with him.🥰🍷🥂
