Actually if you did even a modicum of research you will see that these headlines appeared in the DM and Torygraph quoting the London Tory opposition to some of Khan's policies. Surprise, surprise it's election year....but don't try and make out that 'good old Boris' was/is something of a paragon of virtue when it comes to protecting the public purse: the garden bridge, very expensive wallpaper, legal fees for partygate, holiday trips abroad instead of Cobra meetings etc etc are examples of his willingness to throw other people's money about. As somebody who lives in South London, the situation has become steadily worse and worse for people who rely on their car to work and get about. My friends and family - from Exeter, Leeds, Manchester and the Isle of Man no longer visit us. The isolation imposed by Covid has only continued, my wife and I feel increasingly isolated and cut off. We rely on the car for shopping, and the are now more congested than ever before, crawling along at 20mph in crocodiles of traffic, having to make convoluted much longer journeys than ever before. Restrictions, closed roads and the accompanying fines have become worse and worse. We use public transport when we can - which can be frightening and difficult. Too old and infirm to cycle and cannot afford to take taxi's everywhere. It is becoming a nightmare city to live in - primarily for the elderly and infirm.
