With the automatic milk frother I always have a small cup next to the machine and hold it under the spout for the first couple seconds when the milk is supposed to come out (often it's just water) and it's also the part of the process where the water and milk will spurt around missing the cup. Wish Saeco had a adjustable nozzle sleeve to put over the nozzle making the end closer to the cup top.

Love your review videos! I purchased a Saeco Syntia Super Automatic from these folks back in 2013/2014. Used everyday and heavily used when I have brunch/dinner guests. Saeco builds a good machine. Looks like this Pico Baristo is an updated version with a more integrated milk carafe set up. Looks cool. Tempted to upgrade to a new high tech machine… Was reading thru some comments and thought I should address a couple things for those unfamiliar with the quirks that come with owing high end Italian designed machines. And for those of you with fine Italian sports cars, you may already be familiar with quirky Italian design like I am... Yes the milk frother spits out a bit of water at first. If I'm being picky, I simply leave an empty cup in place for a couple seconds and swap it out when the milk starts to flow. The drip tray can get full fast because the machine cleans itself. I always leave an empty cup under the spout to catch some of the waste water. Then I don't have to empty the drip tray as often. And yes one must be careful to remove the slide out drip tray. BUT don't wait until its too full! If the drip try is too full of water then of course it may spill over when trying to remove it. Keep watching the little red floating indicator and empty when 2/3 full at most. My display went very dim about 4 years after I bought it. But I purchased a replacement online and installed it myself. No biggie. Other than that. it's been a solid performer. It always impresses the guests when I start whipping up multiple lattes and cappuccinos.

No need to be scared of that water drip... Coffee AND Milk...both are mostly water. The fact that 3% of whole coffee came out as transparent water (aka without any milk nor coffee) changes nothing in the taste. Just reduce 3% of water for the coffee or milk quantities.

Owned a Saeco exprelia which lasted well over ten years. Was gonna get this as a replacement, but was shocked to learn that it only weighs a mere 7.2kg, compared to the old one which was slightly over 13kg….I guess , gone are the days where things were sturdy, strong, robust and built to last…after careful research, could not find a machine with a integrated milk carafe that checks all the boxes, so going for a cheap & cheerful Nespresso maker & frother instead!

Hmmm.... I wonder why this machine retails for $1500 and the Gran Baristo is $2500? The two machines seem nearly identical physically and in the software department the Gran Baristo is capable of storing 6 profiles. $1000 more for having 6 profiles? As far as the milk frothing erratically, I think this only happens once in awhile.

@Biceboca0253 жыл бұрын
And what is your opinion after 3 months? Is it still good?
@achimkrull71653 жыл бұрын
@@Biceboca025 yes. Still happy. A minor issue someone else mentioned: the frother starts by discharging water before foam. I simply use a small beaker to catch that. The rinse feature on the milk frother keeps milk from going sour. I have not yet had to clean the grinder mechanism, so I don’t know how complicated that will be. One other comment: in my DeLonghi I used non-espresso beans. I really like some regular dark roast beans but these are oily and Saeco warns that oil will gum up the works so I stay away from them.

I am debating between this machine and the Breville Barista Express. I initially ordered the barista experss but am worried that I won't use it so much bc it might get my kitchen dirty and it's a hassle. What's your take on it? Does this machine make a great espresso as well? Is there a big difference in quality? Is it much easier to make a coffee on this machine?
@jdashlovela3 жыл бұрын
just get the bambino plus if you want something cheaper. you just press a button. my friend has saeco it makes amazing espresso, so so cappuccino and latte. my uncle has jura ena 3 and I like it for cappuccino better and espresso than any machine I've tried

I have a suggestion for a CR. Using the Bonavita, make the following, 4 cups with the Bonavita basket, 4 cups using the V60 and 4 cups using the Chemex. Use the SAME grind and SAME quantity of coffee in each. Prediction is the Chemex will be cleanest the Bonavita will be weakest and the V60 will be the sharpest. Would love to see you do the CR..... Continue the good work.....

I have one of these for about a year now, and today was the 2nd time I had to get warranty service. First time, the carafe mechanism didn't work right. This time, the o-rings inside the main body that provides for the coffee/water to feed is pretty much chewed up and marred; result: coffee stopped working. The ONLY good thing about this machine is that they have pretty decent customer service and are responsive. However, I'm without my 1200.00 coffee machine for about 2 weeks now because a 20 cent o-ring won't keep a seal. Pretty Crappy design. Lastly, this thing is messy messy messy. The drip dray is full after about 4 cups/servings, the timer on the used coffee tray is stupid, and the unit opens to the bottom, so your counter will get all sorts of crap under it. Just wanted ppl to be aware. This is in no way a reflection of your reviews, I love those! Thanks.

Thank you very much for doing this review/showcase. Very much appreciated! (I am not from Seattle, or even the US, but I am shopping for a new coffee machine.) I like this one a lot, but the plastic milk jug thing scares me a bit - like where can I buy a replacement from? How much does it cost? Otherwise, the machine seems like a fine machine. Not sure how durable these are.

Bought one recently but returning it, one, because it is not ringing the coffee sprout properly. It says its rinsing but no water is coming out and the coffee tastes funky if you don't do a manual rinse. (But Philips has agreed this is an error). Two, the water coming out of the milk frother, very annoying, and it gets messy first having another cup to capture the water. Then the milk frother is just so much more complicated than in one earlier (European) model. That one was geniusly simple and so much easier to clean. So no.

Got my Picobaristo today - quite impressed, not so much with the amount of output. I think the amount of output for the Latte Macciato is not very much...I know that amount can be altered by the Memo function. Makes sense by things like coffee, not so much for mixtures (milk/coffee) where have to save individual amounts manually...
