@Ntuthu-ZA Жыл бұрын
We wouldn’t say hamba kahle in this scenario. Saying siyabonga (we thank you) or ngiyabonga (I thank you) would be more appropriate. Hamba kahle implies that one of you is leaving the other behind and travelling somewhere.

Ah! Yebo! This was so good. I came as a volunteer and taught at the school across the highway from Tembe park for 6 weeks and I still couldn't say one of my student's names. Poor Cela! I'd get the C sound and then the rest, but it always sounded like two words. I found the X and the HL easy enough but the Q made me stumble too. Trying to say umqomboti made me sound as if I'd already had too many. And no one ever told me about the KL (KH?) or the B. In fact, in the whole Manguzi area I don't recall anyone ever using those sounds. Or maybe just because I didn't know about them, I didn't catch them? I came back several times, volunteering different places and travelling all over, and I fell in love with that country the first time I was there. I'm going to bookmark this so I can practice.

If you watch his video on how his culture prays/ brings home a family member’s spirit who has passed outside of the homestead, you can witness how great of a communicator he is. He uses all the tools available to us to communicate what he is trying to convey: acting things out, analogies, repetition of an idea presented many different ways. If aliens land on this planet, I nominate Sahkile Dube to communicate with them

There is a song from an artist that goes by Ross from Friends called The Knife. There is a small phase in it that I have since learned might be in a Zulu song. It says, “Nkosi yethu ubukhulu bakho abulinganiseki”, which I read in a KZbin comment and auto translation says “Our God, Your greatness is immeasurable”. So beautiful! Can you teach me how to pronounce this correctly so I can sing along to this? It would mean so much to me, and thank you for doing what you do ❤

Isn't the music great? I was a Johnny Clegg fan decades ago and branched out from there. I think SA has one of the most diverse music scenes in the world. And when I left SA the first time, after volunteer teaching in a Zulu school my kids sang Siyahamba for me because they knew how much I liked it.

Your voice tone is super nice. It's interesting before I had braces on my teeth i swallowed the same way a baby does. It's called tongue thrusting because you push your tongue against your teeth instead of the roof of your mouth. It pushes your teeth out. Anyway one way they test the strength of your tongue is to make a click noises by both flicking your tongue from the roof of your mouth and but clicking by sticking your tongue up like your going to swallow and making a pop noise. Because i didn't swallow that way i actually made very little noise because my tongue was weak. I wonder if you have people who also have this issue but have less damage due to your languages... It seems like you would, I just wonder if they end up with less of their teeth pushing out. It so cool hearing how strong the click is when your speaking. Thank you for sharing and I am excited to be a new sub!
