Murray Mac Murray Hatchery is the BEST company in my opinion. 20 years ago, I used to order from them on a regular basis, way before they had those fancy boxes and I NEVER received a dead baby or egg.....ever! May I suggest that those who wish to have smaller numbers, get together and do a large order together? I do chick orders for our 4-H members here... I give them McMurray catalogs, have them select their birds and then do ONE order and everyone comes here to pick up their chicks.. it's a great time for visiting and learning while the kids pick out their birds. Maybe you can find other friends that want chickens also and you can share their order!

you can go to Backyardchickens (its a forum online) and you can ask for someone to split an order with you thats in your area. I recently split and order with someone from there and it went great!

Find other like-minded chicken folks in your area and do a joint order... it's what small scale enthusiasts often do and it's fun to get to know others with the same interest... city chickens are definitely on the rise and it's a good solution...

Good video great packing which is why I don't know how four out of seven of my flying mallards that I ordered last year came in dead and then only two of the replacements came in alive!

Great packaging. I just wish you had a smaller minimum. 25 is a lot of birds. I currently have 8 and that's a lot for me. I don't know anyone that I could split an order of 25 with either. I'm sure there are many out there with the same problem. The small suburban flock keeper is a market you should consider. Perhaps just ship a small order during warmer months with a heating pad. Other than that it looks like great stuff.

It happens, not usually because of the hatchery but because of the post office. I lost 10 in 3 weeks, but it happens.

let me start by saying this near tragedy was NOT the fault of your company, but of the airline. My 25 chicks were scanned boarding a flight and then vanished. I was panicking. It had been 0ver 48 hours. The ONLY reason they were found alive was because my father was a customs broker and did most of his business through Kennedy airport in NYC (JFK) I called him in tears. He called some contacts in security at the airport. some knucklehead had taken my birds off the plane and put the box down on the floor in a cargo area, never scanning their arrival. Thanks to my dad, a "chicken hunt" was started and someone found them and watered them for me. My dad was allowed clearance where the average person can not go in the airport and picked them up and drove them straight to me.like i said, not your fault, but I haven't subjected live animals to being treated like cargo ever again.

that is the size box my order for 34 was shipped in but they included extras bringing the total to 44... and I lost 17 birds and many were crushed in shipping. Shouldn't they have used a bigger box for so many chicks? they put twice the amount you said should have gone into that box in it when shipping.

Ok so I am ordering 29 chicks but me and a friend are splitting the number and each select our own different mix of breeds. Is there've way where we can each separate our selection of different breeds. We both have like 10 different types that are all mix matched. Is that possible to separate? If so, do I have to call to order?
