We took two Mercedes Sprinter 144’s (NCV3) and created some very versatile interiors for the weekender, designed for quick adventure getaways without giving up the working van benefits of hauling people and stuff throughout the week. Aptly named "the Weekender Kit", this flexible interior design is the perfect answer, both in budget and style, to max out your Sprinter's everyday usability.
01:34 Sprinter Cabinets by SAGA
Using SAGA for the cabinetry, overhead storage, sink box, cowling, interior panels, and recessed LED lighting (along with a catch-all cubby around the base of the seats) we were able to maximize the storage area without comprising much living space. This isn't too surprising given that SAGA products are known for getting the most storage in the most space-saving way.
02:07 All-in-one Sink & Plumbing Combination
For the galley set-up, we created an all-in-one water system incorporating fresh water tanks, grey water tanks, 12v water pumps, a sink, a fold-down faucet, and a glass top completely encased in a SAGA galley cabinet. This is one of the most compact camper kitchen water systems using the least amount of room and eliminating exterior or wheel-well tank storage. It's great option for DIY builders due to the simplicity of the installation, too.
03:04 Modular Bed/Table/Bench System
We also maxed out the versatility of the living area with a Van Wife modular combination bed, table, bench, and gear storage system allowing easy interior layout transformation to fit the needs of everyday use and weekender adventure camping. Seating up to six adults, or sleeping a couple along with bike and gear room - or quickly convert to an open van.
03:35 SAGA Verticle Wall-mount Electrical System
For the electrical system, we had to get creative on space in the 144 (the bed system is really meant for the 170) so we used the Saga super-slim vertical cabinet for the electrical configuration. This allowed us to tuck in a complete two 48 volt CAN-bus lithium batteries, Vitron servo (with real-time monitoring via the built-in touchscreen management console), a Solar convertor, and a Multiplus 3000 to handle all Invertor and charging. Together managing and producing 400 amp hours at 12 volts - enough power to easily camp off grid for days. Think of it like verticle gardening for your electrical system. Less than the thickness of your wheel-well, leaving tons of floor space for your gear.
09:01 SAGA Interior Wall and Ceiling Coverings
Using the SAGA line of pre-fit panels for walls and ceiling, door cowls, and wire chase to hide all the wiring, we were able to economically get a high-end fit and finish. Adding USB and power outlets, along with some strategically placed lighting throughout put the final touch on these builds that are highly functional and super styling.
These Weekender packages are the perfect "gotta-have-all-the-options-for-real-life-living" solution to your conversion - letting you get all the benefits of a daily cargo van that's ready to bug out to the hills in minutes flat!
