Great video! Why is this designed with a bracket that gets in the way (at the end of the video)? Why not just design it with the bracket a little bit out of the way? And what benefit or service does that bracket provide? Why is it even needed to be there?

Install this item as far back as possible. The upper forward corner requires a shorter bolt if this is not done.

Just finished mine, a few tips. I used RTV to seal the outer ring... otherwise I can't see it not leaking. And the latch on the lock may need to be bent or you cut the inner flange.

Why wouldn’t you cut the hole the size of the exterior opening not the backing plate? That 1/4 lip seems unnecessary especially if the lower lip has to be ground down anyway.. why not just make the opening flush with the door size ?

How long did it take to install each storage locker door, from beginning to the finished door with adjustments.

To install both is probably 1.5 hours if you have all the tools

Im definitely confused why you wouldn't use butyl tape on the exterior flange or any kind of other sealant.

The goal is not to waterproof the box. It is for items that moisture won’t affect. Hoses, oils, air pressure gauges. There is a drain hole at the bottom for water to drain out

It appears these are hatches that provide access to pre-existing cavities on the Sprinter. I see the 170 version has two doors. Are there two separate, isolated cavities on the 170?

They have drain holes from the factory so not water or dust proof. Cavities are separated in the chassis

It is great for anything you don't use inside your van. Fluids, air pressure gauge, recovery gear etc

Seems like your video/install is wrong. The cutout in the van should be the size of the outer bracket. That way you wouldn’t need to trim the anti-theft bracket, and there would be room for the foam tape. In your video, the tech had the tape installed on the inner bracket (as would be expected), but then it ends up sandwiched between the sheet metal of the van.

How is that water proof?

It’s not intended to be waterproof. It is meant for hoses, fluids, recovery gear etc. It has a drain hole at the bottom of any small amounts of water get in

@@owloffroad ok, thanks for the reply. I have already received the one i ordered and installing it now. My other question is what about that small foam insulation strip thats included? In the video looks like its installed on the back plate. Is that correct or should it be on the front plate so there is some cushion between the plate and the sheetmetal?

I like the product, not the install. Why can’t you adjust the bracket before shipping? Or adjust the cut-template?

It needs to be adjusted last because it depends on your cut not the bracket.

man u have to paint on the anti-rust paint, not the spray paint, it doesn't prevent the rust... that's so sloppy.
