Great review wish I could get my hand on one. On a side not grabbed the Chatanoogha experimental harvest and the new russian river finished very excited.

Excellent review. I'm enjoying that bottle through your reactions and superlatives. I'm glad it met expectations. The PSA at the end is eye-opening. It's possible that business will continue as usual. It's also possible that quality, creativity, or even prices could change drastically. Not a terrible idea to stock up a bit if Sagamore is your favorite rye.

Haha well said. Stock up. Part of the worry stems from the fact that they have had a ton of distillery exclusives this year that have all been hitters with super long finishing times probably about 3 times as many released as normal so it almost feels like they are purging what they had aging

The sagamore 9yr rye should be dropping soon and it’s more of a nationwide release but you can’t go wrong grabbing their double oak rye

Enjoyed the review! I loved the Sherry finish, so it's too bad they were all sold out at the distillery by the time I saw this. I do agree that Sagamore is killing it with their current releases.

Yeah I’m excited for that to I just wonder if it’s a barrel pick though the back of the label suggests it might be. It’s confusing now they use the reserve series for nationwide as well as picks of finished items

Hey BB, great review but didn't know they were sold. I share your concern because these are nice products which I enjoy. I do like the Double Oaked as well and the Barrel picks available at stores around me. I hope they don't mess with a good product because it would be a shame.

I see a lot of channels reviewing ryes these days. Think I've heard talk of "it's the year of the rye." Are there an unusual amount of ryes coming out lately?

It’s been much better quality and higher aged ryes hitting the market in 2024 a lot of double digit aged ryes and some of the best in years

Need one of those, unfortunately I don't live or know anyone near the distillery. The Sherry finish is one of my favorites and one a blind easily last week against other Sherry Finished Ryes. Now that it's no longer made, I had to get me a couple backups.

Oh yeah this is worlds better and I loved the original sherry that you have as well. Hopefully there is a small chance you might find someone with an extra if I had any extras I’d help you out.

Sagamore again! Let’s go. I just need for more nationwide release stuff to come through. I got the Manhattan this year and Sherry from a couple years ago. Love the 8 year batches. Looking forward to the 9. Never been able to find a port in my area unfortunately. These are my favorite bourbon bill videos. I hope sagamore doesn’t go down the tank with the ownership. I’m thinking positive

Missed out on the Port last year, but I got the sherry cask finish! Once I heard about the Amontillado finish, I had to get one. Its a phenomenal rye whiskey and Im glad I got a few bottles! Cant wait for Black Friday and 2024 Port!

if you are looking for a good cask strength single barrel rye, try Old Potrero Single barrels aged 8 years and up. Its stunningly good. 100% Malted Rye whiskey. Think Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Amazon Honey, First Cut Hay, Dark Oak Molasses.

Love your Sagamore reviews. I live in a state to which Sagamore does not distribute but thankfully I travel a fair amount and have picked up plenty of their offerings. Just a suggestion but would like to see you review the Milam and Green Port Finished Rye. It’s lower proof but one I really enjoy. I get Welch’s grape and cherry fruit snack notes from it. It runs about $50.

I would love to hear the inside scoop from the distillery to see if they continued with the finishing program over the past two years so that we get at least a couple more years of releases. I'm hoping that Illva Saronno Group takes the backseat and just lets Sagamore do it's thing independently without pulling a Campari and jacking up prices for special releases (speaking of, no doubt the soon to be released Sagamore 9 Year will kick the darn pants off the new Wild Turkey Triumph 10 Year Rye for which msrp is like $300 or something)

Great review Bill!! I said the same thing about this being the best ever from sagamore. It gives the port a run for its money and is already sold out at the distillery. We tasted it on the tour last week and everyone was going crazy for the amontillado. Sorry I didn't get a backup. Look out for a sauternes finish being released which I think is nationwide. I actually combined a little bit of the amontillado with the 8 year sagamore and man what a nice blend!! Planning to try with the 9. As far as production they are increasing their rickhouse capacity to 100,000 barrels and the marriage with DiSarono apparently has been fruitful so far. They are also contract distilling now and have bourbon distillate they sell for private barrels. Junkies use that product. The Maryland collective is doing another experimental release soon so I will keep you updated.

Thanks sir! Yeah Amontillado is killer. Is the Sauternes nationwide or a pick? The back suggests to me it might be a pick it’s hard to tell as they use the reserve label for both finished picks and nationwide special releases but either way yeah I’m wanting that I just wish they would drop the 9 soon!

@@bourbonbill I thought they told me last week sauternes was nationwide but can't recall 100% now. The 9 should be hitting very soon it's in southern MD already. They were shipping out cases last week.
