People are going to ask how this compares to the Ninja Luxe Cafe. I think I'll do a dedicated video on that. For now I can say (this is just my own opinion): - Barista Assist goes to Ninja - Auto Milk frothing goes to Ninja - Dose consistency goes to Ninja (due to the scale) - Overall espresso potential goes to Oracle - Manual milk frothing goes to Oracle - Looks go to Oracle - Finally, auto puck prep is awesome, and goes to the Oracle. Thank you for the video. I just unboxed this machine yesterday, and I am very pleased with it. 90 percent of my reason for choosing this over the ninja was the puck prep and styling. I have had other Breville units in the past and I guess you could call me a fanboy. I have gone to barista training and have a grinder for if I feel like doing all the work myself, but when I wake up and want to get a quick couple of shots, nothing beats this system. Even today, got home from work and was sipping an espresso within 5 minutes of walking in the house.

If you long press the icon, it goes into manual mode and you can save your perfect length shot without having to manually stop it at 30g. I would love to see a review on different things you can do with customizations and how to dial in new beans.

Great review. I’ve had an #OracleJet for a couple months now and love it overall. When I am groggy in the morning, I don’t want to fiddle with manual puck prep. I just want a good coffee. I also like the cold brew that it makes, so it is versatile. I think the touch screen enables this versatility, however I wouldn’t mind two more buttons for initiating brew and steaming. I have gotten the rare half-baked puck like you did with the light roast beans. I find that mainly happens when the bean hopper is almost empty. You can tell when it is struggling to get the beans, and a tap of the hopper will usually get the last few it needs to finish the puck. I would 100% buy again and just hope it lasts.

Just purchased the machine and found it to be ideal. Your critical remarks about too many bubbles in the milk seems to have missed the point that the milk settings permit a very dedicated option to the preference for milk temp AND density (bubble size/amount). The ability to double tap each icon for flushing is a great option as is the guidance when flow rate is to high or too low (offering an adjustment to grind size to address this KEY ISSUE. Truly a great machine.

I liked the Ninja, but there are factors about it that are spoken about. -Hard (er) to Clean so Orracle and the Breville line in general is Easier to Clean. Then we have the instructional value of the Oracle and (I assume to some degree) the Breville Touch Impress. Another key factor is how long these units last. How long is their warranty? How long can you extend them? Then we have the fact parts on the Nina like the plastic holder to place the portafilter in the grinder breaks potentially. So that is a critical piece that has a weakness as if it breaks, you will need a replacement. Is it possible to make a coffee without it? Also one is clearly made for higher end use, while the Ninja is more like the basic Breville line and one thing I find surpising is how much more you need to spend to get that same functionality to do things like make cold drinks. You'd think the Pro or Touch Impress would do that or does it. Maybe it does and I'm not aware so they pack functions like this in the Ninja lux One real advantage the Lux has over the Breville is you can make up to an 18 oz coffee, like a travel size. I own a 16 oz travel mug and make 14 oz of coffee filling it up with creamer the rest of the way. The Breville can't do that. It also, and none of these do, make K-Cups so I will get a K-cup single serve coffee maker to make travel size coffee and use something like the Breville Oracle for the good stuff. Ninja though seems to handle both functions and that is awesome but how will it hold up. Also it is a drama to get it, as it is out of stock, and Ninja made me mad senting a Fall15 (percent off) code so it is cheaper to get in september / october and if you wait for Black Fridy you'll discover a truth about Black Friday. It is not a shopping day to get that one thing you really want at a good deal. It is to sell off all those things most of us don't buy, and the best time to get the Ninja was 2 to 1.5 months before Black Friday. Same goes with the Breville Oracle. Black Friday saw all the Breville line on sale, but not the Breville Oracle. They think 'no if you want this, pay the full price. They put the Breville Impress Touch on sale, saving 800 dollars so when you see reviews with 'this is an X costing machine', no not with that sale. Saving 800 is a good deal. Another reason not to get the Ninja Lux now is they are going to do new models and the newer model will be better, adding things like the water spout so if you love Americanos you really should wait if you want a Ninja Lux. Save your 500. The Ninja won't be on sale either, and when it was hard to find the Ninja company jacked the cost up to 700 on Amazon. Ninja did that, not some third party. I almost ordered a Ninja Lux but realize it was going to be on back order. What! I wanted it sooner and don't want to sit for long periods waiting for it so I canceled the order, as I ordered directly with NInja Lux. The other thing to know is they sell out and if you see it for sale and don't get it later on it might be available. I think that the main benefit of the Oracle over the Ninja Lux is work. You have to put in the manual labor to make a coffee, ie just takes you longer and makes you do various functions to get out these various coffee drinks. Whereas the Oracle Jet is not a super-automatic coffee maker but it is a true semi-automatic and it does much of the work, but not all and you can still have the option to do somethings manually. The main disadvantage I think the Oracle Jet should have had included for that big price tag was a built in Scale, then the one single real advantage of the Ninja Lux would vanish like, well, a Ninja. I feel after reading a lot of comments of people who bought it, many have a fantastic experience with the Ninja, but some don't and so I go by things like the ratio of 5 stars to lower ranking stars, like what is the percentage of 1 star reviews and why do they say it. I read nothing but positive reviews until I dug into those and there are some legit issues and info to give you paused before buying it. I say buy something you truly going to be happy with.

I am really happy with the machine. The water in the tank is usually at room temperature. One empty draught is enough for me. Above all, I love the clean puck. I haven't had any channeling so far. Auto-Milq doesn't work for me either. But manual is really easy and the temperature measurement helps. The vapor is available very quickly despite the thermoblock. The auto function on the Ninja also tends to produce “building foam”. I've tried so many espresso machines and grinders. Finally, my espresso tastes good and I get repeatable results. #OracleJet

Good video Tom - thanks. I’ve had this machine for a week and I think you miss two key points in the video. Firstly, anyone in the household can use it and make good coffee. Secondly the fact that the touch interface/control software can be updated via wifi sets it apart in my opinion. Updates have already been released and I’m sure Sage/Breville will continue to perfect the Barista guidance and the operation of the machine. Whilst expensive the price point is comparable to some premium fully automatic machines. I would recommend for those with an interest in good coffee that don’t want to make it a full time hobby and passion. Posted while enjoying a Jet Americano 😀

WiFi over the air updates are not new or exclusive to this machine. There are a few super automatic machines that can do over the air updates and have far superior touchscreen and interfaces compared to this machine. It's not a bad machine but nothing is new or innovative with it.. 2018 technology.

@@mamadouaziza2536 I hadn't meant to imply that the wifi updates were universally unique only that in the context of this machine and Sage range it is a key feature and differentiator. Thank you for this review. Have brand new one, been trying out last couple of days. I started out using single lever Pavoni Professional Europiccola, back in mid 70-'s,, 10 years ago changed to Breville Barista Express, which until my recent switch to this Oracle Jet. Big change for me, with screen and all these settings, and different drinks. I'm also quite technologically advanced. I'm mainly an expresso, americano, cappuccino type of guy. Menu of different drinks definitely would please a family with multiple generations. With the introduction of all these new mechanisms that take place, I really do wonder about the amount of things that can go wrong with this machine.. I had my Breville Barista for 10plus years, and managed to change up , repair a few minor things by myself. I don't like the thought of having to pack up this unit for repair, should that need to take place. As far as I can see, I haven't seen a repairability score been done on this unit? Or maybe there is one around. Repairability by the owner I mean. So far, I do like what is coming out of the group head,, and just pulling double shot for myself. So I'm not a heavy user. I'm thinking of going back to barista express. A lot more tactile /haptic, and for me at least, the date of roast was the all important factor in pulling a great shot..

I like the look of the machine in general, also being very compact and being not too deep (problem with smaller kitchen desks). How precise is the water temperature? Sage/Breville had really inconsistencies there from Barista Pro extracting too hot to Express Impress going too low.

They definitely missed the mark by not including the ability to steam while brewing coffee. Sunbeam in Australia has been doing that for 10 years now with thermoblock technology. I mean you don't have to have the heater hor all the time to steam just have the ability to run the heater when you want to run steam. They also should have made the group head heat up at the moment you turn on the machine and not after you grind. 30 minutes is too long to heat up.! the beauty of the Thermo jet machines are that they heat very quickly compared to the Boiler machine. But if you have to wait as long as a boiler machine for it to get hot, what's the point? Why not just include a Boiler machine? Given that this machine cost as much as an Oracle and Oracle touch, I think Breville could have done better. Hopefully they fix these with a new version soon.

The #OracleJet is looking pretty good and convenient, but at a high cost. I wonder if the trick of putting one or two, two euro coins under the pitcher at the front edge, so it get a bit of an angle could help to get a swirl going to incorporate the bubbles. The answer to the second question is yes, but there is no time or weight based grind option, so you should probably single dose. I haven't actually tried single dosing, but minus the tamp fan the grinder is much the same as any other Sage/Breville grinder, albeit better in construction. I'm pretty sure their hopper fitting hasn't changed ever, or at least not in about 5 years, so the single dose hopper for your express might fit.

Hi Tom, thanks for the vids. I'm new to all this so if anyone can explain.. I'm getting 22g from the double basket but only 32g liquid from a double shot from the Oracle Jet. I have it set up for volumetric so the double shot should be producing 44g of liquid, right? What am I doing wrong? Shot time is about 22/23 seconds. Thanks!

One thing that keeps me from getting one of these screen only machines is the fact that if the monitor fails, you can't use the machine at all. To have one point of failure that makes the machine completely unusable doesn't sit well with me.
@fuzziestlumpkin2 ай бұрын
I've seen a few people make this comment, and find it weird... If the control board, heater (be it a boiler or thermo block), or pump fail, you can't use the machine. These are all single points of failure that make the machine useless if they break, so what is so special about the screen? Do people just think touch screens are unreliable by nature?
@TomsCoffeeCorner2 ай бұрын
I'd agree with Fuzzie's statement, although replacing a screen will be more cost intensive.

@@TomsCoffeeCorner I just bought the Oracle Jet and I honestly think that you might have a faulty auto milk in the machine. I got a nice rotation of the milk and the micro bubbles were nicely incorporated. I am no pro at all so I can be wrong but it is definitely better than the barista touch and even with a very low fat milk I got none of the big bobbles you showed us in the video. Thank you for your very thorough review!

Im having nothing but issues making a single shot flat white. Machine dials in a double basket at 31 grind setting for a 32 sec pour. Switch to a single basket and it wants a 42 grind setting for a 38 sec pour and it tastes watery. Four “wavey” tamps in a row. Really disappointed as the Barista Touch Impress has been brilliant.

One more thing your review is way different from the one Lance had. So do you think there is that much machine to machine variability? I was all set to buy this machine as my wife would be the main user and I know she is not going to put much time learning all the espresso nuisances.
@TomsCoffeeCorner2 ай бұрын
From a manufacturing standpoint, I can't imagine there's a difference between the machines. We both show that the PID regulation is pretty good. I just find that the PF should be warmed up first, and that the machine provides better espressi as you pull more of them. That's kind of the same for most machines, as all the components and PF get up to the same temp. As for the auto milk, I cannot get that to work very well. But the manual milk steaming is easy enough, and it provides excellent texture. Cheers!

Thank you for another excellent video. I like the thermojet technology, the dual-boiler seems energetically unsuitable for a few coffees a day. At a relatively high price, milk frothing could be the biggest advantage, but it probably isn't. The grinder doesn't particularly stand out, I can probably do without automatic tamping, I wouldn't use a large number of drinks, the accessories are rather impoverished even compared to the lower Barista range, the impression from the inside is "very Chinese". Simply to sum it up, a lot of features and a lot of little things that can break. For some, it may be a suitable option instead of an automatic coffee machine, I will probably be more satisfied with Barista Pro, also in terms of interface and functions (and at a third of the price).
