I have recently just purchased the 11'6" #7 switch version specifically for my spring salmon fishing on the North and South Esk rivers here in Scotland. Paired with the new Sage 6/7/8 Spey 2 reel and Rio VersiTip short #7 and Rio 0.37 Elite metered shooting line. After the first use of this rod, my impressions are very very good. It casts effortlessly, recovers exceptionally well and generally just feels great to fish. I'm under the impression that although the line I was fishing is rated at 425gr, this rod could easily handle 500gr with ease and bigger flies if the need were to arise. Very impressive and worth every penny!

We were also impressed of how much the lover class models could handle! Makes you think what the big boys are capable of!! Congratz on your new rod :)

Yes, I'm tempted to be reluctantly drawn away from my Asquith 13' #7 and give the 13'6" #8 8136-4 a place in my Armoury! 🎣

I have just bought one and I wouldn't say it's stiff. The rod is very responsive and definitely one of the best recovering blanks I've ever owned! I'd highly recommend you try one out at your local tackle shop if you can. I took a chance when buying mines online from a UK Sage dealer but I'm not disappointed 🎣

Hi John was thinking of buying one of the 7# switch but wondering if I should go up to the 8#. This is for fishing in the small rivers in Ireland for both spring and summer fishing. How how you getting on with yours. @@JohnnieWalker-SalmonFlyFishing

@@glenmc517 Hi buddy, I can’t recommend the 11’6 #7 enough. It’s a lovely rod and definitely capable of anything your describing or likely to throw at it. I use it here in Scotland on everything other than the largest of rivers (ie) The Tay and it has dealt with springers up to 20lb without issue. I like it that much that I now also own the 12’6. Bite the bullet and buy it! 👍

What line were you trying on the 11'6 #7 switch rod?
@JohnnieWalker-SalmonFlyFishing4 ай бұрын
I’ve tried several lines on it buddy and currently switch between the Rio Elite Scandi outbound switch #8 and the Rio VersiTip #7 425gr. It copes with both the lines easily and turns over polyleaders with ease. I have just also bought a #7 Rio Elite Scandi outbound body, which is basically a VersiTip with integrated running line and it works with that too!

How will you compare it to the mighty G Loomis Asquith? Has Sage manage to make it lighter? Love your vids, greetings from Norway :)

Which line weight from the new GameChanger do you recommend for the #9 6-piece rod?
