I agree with both of the above Crunchy and Lisa, the settlements should not be paid for by a tax funded settlement pot, half should be paid for by the police union, and half by the officers who violated rights. I wish more of these cases were brought before the DOJ, because they don't screw around when putting federal criminal charges and prison time on officers who infringe on citizens' civil rights. Do a Google search on it, just try several combinations of words until you begin finding more articles and direct statements by the DOJ. Just obey the blue. Markus Daxamouli, railroad trespassing is illegal. Google it. In Arizona, if the Sahuarita PD wanted to push the issue, they could have cited Freeman for Third Degree Criminal Trespass due to standing too closely to the train tracks on his right side. That’s what Sgt Mata tried to explain to Freeman, but Freeman was being rude and interrupting the sergeant as he was pointing that out.
